Highly recommend this charter for the Na Pali coast. The captain and mates were very skilled and friendly. They show you all the coastal sites including caves, falls, and historical spots that have a fascinating history.

Shawn, Ethan, and Ky were awesome guides on our Na Pali Coast tour. Shawn went as far as to get in the water to help one guest learn to snorkel. very knowledgeable about the water and history of Na Pali coast. We were able to see many whales and dolphins. Our favorite part of our Kauai vacation.

If you're on the fence about whether this tour is worth it -it absolutely is. We honestly had zero expectatons and booked a morning tour in January, and it turned out to be the best decision. The water was calm enough for snorkeling, and we got incredibly lucky - we saw hundreds of dolphins, whales, albatrosses, turtles, and so much more. And that's not even mentioning the unreal beauty of the Na Pali Coast. Huge shoutout to the captain, who made it feel like a full-on adventure - taking us through sea caves, near waterfalls, and still making sure everyone felt completely safe the entire time. A few tips if you're not very experienced with boats: - Definitely bring towels and warm clothes -- it can get very windy. - Sunscreen is a must. No explanation needed. - Take Dramamine about an hour before boarding if you're worried about motion sickness. Everyone in our group took it and felt great, unlike a couple of other tourists who were clearly struggling. The worst part is when the boat stops and rocks on the waves. Another awesome bonus was the unlimited drinks, plus really tasty sanwiches and snacks throughout the tour. Highly recommend - this ended up being the best experience we had in Hawaii!

We thoroughly enjoyed this Napali coast excursion and felt that it was money well-spent. We loved that the group was smallish, about 30 people, and that the crew interacted with everyone. The narrative was rich in history as well as relevant. There was a stop along the way to pay homage to Captain Mike's ancestors by the blowing of the conch as well as a surprise shower under a cooling waterfall! There were joyful whale encounters. We were even accompanied for a short while by a school of sleek grey porpoises! We absolutely recommend this company!

Excellent, we did the afternoon Na Pali sunset cruise and everything was first class, Amelia K is a smooth clean vessel and Captain Mike and his crew were very friendly, knowledgeable and made sure everyone was safe and happy the whole time. As well as seeing the superb coastline we saw plenty of dolphins swimming along side our boat and as a bonus we got to see plenty of whales also. If you thinking of going on a tour I would thoroughly recommend this one!

Our Napali coast tour was incredible. The crew was so much fun and really made the experience what it was. We saw so many whales breaching throughout the trip and the views of the coast were absolutely breathtaking. If you’re planning on a tour of the coast, I highly recommend you choose Makana charters!

I had an awesome experience boating along the stunning Na Pali Coast with Makana Tours on the Na Pali Kai III. The crew was outstanding. Capt. Mike was an experienced pilot and navigated us close along the rugged coast, despite the moderate swell. Crewmen Ethan and Kai were born and raised on Kauai. They were extremely knowledgeable about the history of the island and the ancient Hawaiian people who lived in the tropical valleys along the Na Pali coastline. The views were breathtaking with vantage points that you only get from a boat. Unfortunately we didn’t get to snorkel because of the high surf common in the winter months. But Capt. Mike was able to guide us to some great whale watching spots where we saw them spouting and jumping out of the water. Adding to the fun was Ethan’s eclectic playlist—from contemporary Hawaiian music to country and old-school dance tunes. Ethan and others sang along as the music played on the boat’s sound system. It made the tour even more enjoyable.

Great tour even though I believe is a little expensive. The crew was great and we were able to see whales and dolphins. I would suggest the crew to stop a little bit for better pictures on the boat with the beautiful views in the back.

It’s hard to put into words what an amazing day we had out with Makana Charters. We met up with Captain Sean and Kana (pictured here) and soon after headed off for a five hour cruise to the Napili coast. Along the way, we saw spinner dolphins everywhere and humpback whales, including a mother playing with her baby calf. The information and knowledge provided to us by Sean and Kana was exceptional. They educated us on the wildlife and the history of the coast. The pride and knowledge they provided about the Hawaiian culture was impressive. What they did with our boat with nothing short of amazing. They actually took us into the cave so close we had water pouring on us from the waterfalls. At one point it felt like we could’ve reached out and touched the cave walls…unbelievably impressive boatmanship. We can’t say enough about these two guys and how amazing this adventure was. We highly recommend it. Everyone in our party was in their 60s and everyone agreed it was one of the greatest days they’ve ever had. If this is on your bucket list (and it should be), Makana is absolutely the group you want to go with. Mahalo.

This boat tour was truly a 5-star experience from start to finish. The Nā Pali Coast is absolutely breathtaking, and seeing wildlife up close made it even more special. We were lucky enough to see whales, dolphins, and so many colorful fish — it felt like a real-life nature documentary! On top of that, the boat crew was amazing. Everyone was super friendly, fun, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time. You can really tell they love what they do, and that energy makes all the difference. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kauai. It’s an unforgettable experience and absolutely worth it!
