Captain Rhiannon & Jay were awesome. They told us stories about the landmarks up & down the Na’pali coast. We had the best conditions the ocean was calm it was warm & the water was clear. We stopped to snorkel & eat lunch for 1 hour. Most other tours I’ve been on only stop for a half hour. It felt very relaxing. We were not rushed. On other tours, I felt like I only had time to snorkel and then have to eat my lunch when we’re underway on the way back. The sandwiches were delicious. They had a cooler full of ice, cold drinks, and water. They stopped several times to allow guests to take photographs of iconic areas. I felt very well taken care of and safe. Captain Rhiannon and Jay were engaging with the guests, but not too much. They were informative in a casual friendly way. I highly recommend Makana Charters. Even if you have to drive a little further, it’s totally worth it. I live in Kilauea and left my house at 6:00am. I arrived 10 minutes before the 7:30 check in. They are very organized and professional. Everything went very smoothly. I typically go out on a tour 1 to 3 times a year. I’ve been out with 3 of the most popular tour companies on island. I go every year for my birthday in July. And I always take friends & family when they visit. Makana Charters makes you feel like Ohana. After the amazing tour I usually go to the beach house for sunset. Sadly the beach house was destroyed by Lowell but I hear they are rebuilding. I can’t wait to go out with Makana Charters again & go to the new Beach House. Mahalo nui loa Makana Charters! I have so many fun memories with friends & family on your tours!

We had an amazing time on our Nā Pali Coast boat tour with Captain Dave and Elijah! They were both incredibly personable, friendly, and made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. They went above and beyond to make the experience special and truly made it feel like we were all one big family. On the way to the Nā Pali Coast, they even slowed down when we spotted dolphins so we could enjoy the moment. They also went back to retrieve someone’s hat that had blown away — little things like that really showed how much they cared about everyone on the boat. The entire experience was fun, relaxing, and memorable. Captain Dave and Elijah were fantastic hosts, and we couldn’t have asked for a better crew. We would definitely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a Nā Pali Coast boat tour! 🌊🐬🤙

Gave it 1 star because we never got a chance to use it. We were booked on a long Napoli coast tour while on an NCL cruise when the hurricane hit. The cruise decided for SAFETY sake to depart for sea a day earlier. Therefore we couldn't make the tour. MakanaCharters said to bad, it's not a full 24 hours before your tour so you aren't entitled to any refund. Even though we weren't going to be anywhere near them. Luckily Viator, who we booked thru when told about the early departure refunded our money. So, whatever you do, use Viator or NCL to book your excursios, since NCL gave a refund right away also.

This was the highlight of our Kauai trip. captain A’a was very knowledgeable, gave us the most authentic feel of exploring the Napali Coast, and made it the best experience ever. We felt safe the entire time. Lila was super helpful and she was so cute! She kindly offered to take our photos every time she is trying to take photos. (She knew the good angles lol) Great experience overall and I highly recommend this tour and request for captain A’a and Lila if you can! I’d like to send my prayers and thoughts to the ones affected by the hurricane. Sending lots of Aloha 🤙🏽

Niki & our Captian were great, incredibly knowledgeable about the area & passionate about the tour. We got to learn about a sacred place with a seasoned Captian who navigated all the waves easily, made us feel safe, & allowed us to soak up the spectacular views. It was an absolute highlight of the trip!

We had an amazing adventure on the Leialoha! Captain Rhiannon and Jay were very knowledgeable and fun. We enjoyed the spectacular coastal (and waterfall) views, going in and out of sea caves, learning about the history of sites visited, and observing pods of spinner dolphins. We highly recommend booking a trip with Makana Charters!

Awesome tour. Fun and knowledgeable crew. Very personable with great stories. Safety is their main concern. The Capatain, Makana, is amazing with that boat. Pulling into the caves with no issue. Beautiful views of the cliffs and waterfalls. I would go on the same tour next time as well.

We had such an insane time on the seiko tour. We got to see dolphins, go into caves and see waterfalls. The snorkelling was very fun, we got to see turtles and many different fish. I really want to give a big shoutout to the amazing crew who were very informative, extremely kind, positive and ready to help/answer any questions. Captain A’a, Liliana and Lila (I think) were truly super awesome!

Without question, one of the best tours I've ever taken. I am prone to sea sickness, but the crew was so experienced and the boat so smooth that I was able to enjoy the whole thing without getting sick. The scenery was jaw dropping. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone

I had a fantastic morning boat tour of the Napali coast. We saw a huge pod of dolphins, saw turtles from the boat and while snorkeling, went in multiple caves, and had a blast riding over the waves. I felt so taken care of, as the guides frequently checked in on people experiencing motion sickness and helped us out. The native guides gave lots of history, travel tips, and personal experiences, which was exactly what I wanted. Would recommend!

It was amazing. I would do it ten more times. The mates on the boat were super friendly, informative and totally professional. The captain has incredible boating skills. The coastline is spectacular. We saw goats and seals and a rainbow that stretched all the way across the sky.

Tim, Leroy and Tony were amazing! We will definitely be telling everyone to come see them! Tim was a master driver of the boat. Made us all feel comfortable even though the waves were big! Leroy and Tony were always there helping everyone and making us laugh!

Rob, Elijah, and Liliana were the best crew and made our NaPali Coast Tour one of our favorite experiences! Easy booking. Easy ride, out and back. Nice lunch on the boat. Snorkeling in the ocean in Hawaii. The crew was patient as I dealt with my fear of getting in the water, but I was determined. They helped me, talked me thru it, and I’m proud of myself for it. Seriously, best day ever! Highly recommend. Do not skip this tour. Spend the money. Make the memories!

The trip was really good. The captain Ree of SEIKO boat was really good and patient. The views were amazing and the Dolphins watch was a great experience. I will definitely recommend this to everyone.

My husband and I recently took the Seiko 2 for the Na Pali Coast boat tour, and it was hands down the best part of our entire trip to Kauai! Shawn and Lionel were our guides, and they were absolutely the BEST. They were incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and caring throughout the boat tour. One of our favorite parts of the tour was learning about the history of the Na Pali Coast. Shawn and Lionel shared so much fascinating information and really made the experience feel special and personal. You could tell how passionate they were about Kauai and its history. I would 100% recommend Makana Charters to anyone visiting Kauai. We truly could not have asked for a better experience, and it’s something we will remember forever!
