Great tour with Capt Sean and crew Elijah and Ethan! Saw lots of whales and great views of the coast. Entertaining from start to finish. Be prepared to get wet and dress warmer than you think you need to!

Captain Shawn, Ethan, & Elijah were AMAZING! We did the evening tour and we couldn’t be more pleased with the experience we had! If you get motion sickness, this might not be the experience for you, so be warned that there ABSOLUTELY will be rough waves out there. No calm, pontoon rides here. Prepare to have FUN on the water!!

The trip exceeded my expectations. I was skeptical of the half-covered seating area... but shade wasn't a problem AND that boat is perfect for the purpose! Crew was great and it was a great tour of the coastline. I would do it again.

We loved our time today with Capt. Shawn, Elijah and Ethan! They shared the beauty of their island and culture and made sure that we enjoyed our time with snorkling and whale and dolphins- We loved learning about the Na Pali Coast. Lunch was great and music added to our day!! Thanks- Mahalo!!!!

Excellent from first phone call to getting off boat. No shoes on catamaran...safety. Vegetaran sandwich, so-so, but the other sandwiches looked great. Plenty cold sodas and waters. Staff knows their stuff! Very hospitable. We saw humpback whales and spinner dolphins! Earned their 5 stars!

Captain Ron, Lily and Kana were absolutely amazing! We were a group of four and had a fabulous time. We saw whales, dolphins and many native birds. Being winter you can’t always snorkel but we got lucky and were able to snorkel too! Would highly recommend this tour.

Incredible experience - the tour was awesome and the crew of the Amalia K went out of their way to ensure we had an amazing time. We took the tour as a family trip - our kids are 6 and 8 - and it was the best decision we made, coming to Kauai and riding with Makana Charters to experience the Na Pali coast!

Booked this last minute for my family of 7 and it is one of the highlights of our trip to Kauai. Highly recommend it for the views, the experience of seeing the Na’pali coast, the many whales we spotted along the way, the information that the team shared with us and for the care they took of the multi-generational families that were on the tour. A couple of us got queasy at one point. The team was well prepared for it and made sure that we were well attended to during and after the episode. Highly recommended tour and experience. I recommend booking directly through Makana, online or on the phone (this is what I ended up doing as I had spotty data connection at some point on the island). It was a super fun and uniquely informative ride!

Wonderful tour. Very informative staff. I was very thankful we took precautions ahead of time and got prescription anti-nausea patches. Lots of people sick. We had a blast. Would have been nice to note in confirmation email what time to arrive. We felt everyone was waiting for us and we showed up 7 mins early.

Horrible experience. Booked well in advance for January 30th. Got called late on the 28th saying they were expecting rain and we needed to rebook for the 29th or 31st. Since we had filled the week, booked for the 31st. The morning of the 31st, just as we were getting in the car to go to the tour, they called and said there were only 4 people on the tour and they were cancelling it again (They had to have known days before). Gave me the option of getting on a different tour the morning of the 1st (the day we were going home), or cancelling. Would NEVER book with them again. 2 cancellations within 2 days.

I went with my family of six and it was a blast. The views were incredible and our two guides were funny and informative. They seemed to genuinely love their jobs and got excited over seeing dolphins and whales just like the rest of us. I would highly recommend them.

Best boat trip in Kauai - and we have done them all! In late January, if 2026, We were able to go out on the 32 foot Mahkanba, And the skipper was the best I’ve ever seen. Despite the waves, he was able to back into numerous caves and then power out of them. We got to see the inside of the caves and the waterfalls – and the zodiacs never made it anywhere close. We went under waterfalls, got soaked, and had an all-around great time. We also saw whales and schools of dolphins. Note: the dolphins like the smaller boats and not the bigger catamarans or sightseeing boats. Best boat trip for us – ever! I would recommend them to anybody who wants to boat Kuuai,, anywhere, anytime.

I was a bit disappointed in this tour. It's a Na Pali coast tour, yet we only spent 5 minutes at the most beautiful part of the coast. We hugged the coast the whole way out, so there weren't good photos to be had so close in. Then it was full throttle going back when we were off the coast a bit, so again, no good photos to be had. I brought my camera, but only have a couple decent photos of the coast. Saw some whales at least.

We had an amazing experience, touring the NaPali Coast with Makana Charters!! Our captain, Mike and his crew were great. It was so interesting to hear about the history of the island and its natives. The views were spectacular and we had some opportunities to watch whales during the trip. We also got to watch a beautiful sunset as we came back into the bay. I would highly recommend this excursion with Makana Charters!!
