We had an absolute blast with Capt. Michael, Lionel, & Jasmine on our tour around the Napali Coast! They were so nice, easy going, informative, humorous, & just overall down to earth, genuine people. We saw multiple pods of dolphin, a few sea turtles, & a lot of pretty fish. The sun was shining & the water was crystal clear. We highly recommend this tour & would love to go again when we come back to Kauai.

Great experience despite the weather. We were able to pull up to the waterfalls enough for the captain to get us wet. Also their first tour to be able to snorkel in 3 months. Uncle Tony was super excited.

Excellent, exciting trip with wonderful Captain and staff aboard the Amelia K. The marine biologist on board was an unexpected bonus. Spectacular viewing of the whales, dolphins as well as the Napali coast.

Can’t say a whole lot because the tour was cancelled due to wind and rain. Just be aware that if you’re traveling in the winter to have an open mind; no person can control the weather. Safety is the most important, and I had a back up plan to see other sites with the rain. Try local chocolate tasting, seeing botanical gardens and famous waterfalls, going through the Kaua’i museum, trying the fresh fruit from the stands, relaxing with friends and family. Be kind to the tour operators. They were apologetic and were willing to switch days; we just happened to not have the time to reschedule.

We had the absolute best time! The guys were all so knowledgeable and fun! We loved seeing the beautiful North coastline! And WoW! Lost count of how many whales we saw! The cherry on top was the huge family of spinner dolphins that played with us for about 30 minutes!

Absolutely incredible morning on the water with Makena Charters! From the moment I stepped aboard, the crew was warm, friendly, and genuinely excited to make sure everyone had an amazing experience. The staff was not only super helpful with every guest—answering questions, offering tips, and making sure everyone was comfortable—but also impressively knowledgeable about the Nā Pali Coast and the surrounding ocean life. Their experience really showed when it came to finding whales. They clearly knew exactly where to look and how to approach respectfully, and we were rewarded with unforgettable whale sightings that felt both thrilling and intimate. The crew shared fascinating facts along the way, which made the experience even richer. We weren't able to snorkel due to the water conditions, but the captain found a spot where we could swim around for a while. There were even a few daredevils doing cannonballs from the upper level of the boat The views of the Nā Pali Coast were absolutely stunning, and the entire tour felt well-organized, relaxed, and personal. You could tell the team truly loves what they do, and that enthusiasm is contagious. If you’re looking for a top-notch boat tour with incredible scenery, wildlife sightings, and a fantastic crew, Makena Charters is an easy five stars. Highly recommend! 🌊🐋

We took this Napali coast tour last year with family and loved it so much that we took it again this year with friends. Last year was very calm and the weather was beautiful. We saw lots of whales and dolphins and stopped to snorkel. This year was sunny but much rougher. The crew still made it fun and made sure every one was taken care of. We learned a lot about the native culture and the land from the knowledgeble Crewe. I don't know if it was weather related but this year the whales were very accommodating and came much closer to the boat which was awesome! In spite of it being too rough to snorkel, they found a calm spot for us to swim. Makana, Uncle Tony and Elijah were a great crew. Thanks guys!

Shawn and Kana made this a great excursion. The sea was a bit rough, so we couldn’t do the caves or snorkeling, but we saw awesome scenery, a few whales, and were entertained by a couple of comedians disguised as a boat captain and his mate. Excellent job, guys!

Though we didn’t get to snorkel cuz of the surf it was a spectacular boat ride with a ton of dolphin close ups and whale sightings. Had very friendly staff that were always looking to help and cater to our needs…

Captain Shawn and his crew on the morning of 2/1, on the Amelia K, were wonderful. Very skilled captain, and crew. Being around boats my whole life makes me pretty particular, and I’m so thankful we chose this team for our NaPali coast boat tour. They also were very accommodating to a few guests on board who struggled with some sea sickness, so that was nice to see. We were even lucky enough to see several whales and dolphins on our trip, so that made it extra special. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

We had an amazing day on our Napali Coast tour with Makana Charters! We seen lots of dolphins and a few whales even! Our original Wednesday boat tour was cancelled due to high winds but they were able to squeeze us in on a Friday tour before we had to leave. Much appreciated and was the highlight of our vacation to Kauai❤️
