We had such an amazing day with Na Pali Coast Makana Charters! Honestly, this ended up being one of the highlights of our time in Kauai. Dave and Charlie were absolutely awesome — genuinely kind, helpful, funny, and really knowledgeable about the coast and the area. They shared interesting information throughout the trip and they were always checking on everyone and making sure we were comfortable. We had somewhat “difficult” weather and ocean conditions (and rain) at times, but they handled everything so well and professionally that we always felt 100% safe. The Na Pali Coast itself is just unreal from the water. We got surprisingly close to the cliffs, which was SO cool and gives you a completely different perspective than seeing them from land. The scale of the cliffs, the valleys, waterfalls, caves and all the different colors are something pictures really don’t capture properly. And we saw SO MANY dolphins!! Not just one or two in the distance — there were dolphins all around us, which made an already incredible day even better. Definitely one of those moments you remember after the trip is over. I did get a little seasick, so one piece of advice: if you’re even slightly prone to motion sickness, take seasickness pills or something similar beforehand. I’m still really glad I went and wouldn’t have wanted to miss this experience because of it. Overall, such a fun and memorable day and easily one of my favorite things we did in Kauai. I would absolutely recommend Makana Charters to anyone wanting to experience the Na Pali Coast from the water. And a BIG thank you again to Dave and Charlie — you guys really made the experience! Highly recommend!!

The tour with Captains Dave and Eli was spectacular! They were great at providing the safety and site information and at the same time very laid back and allowed everyone on the boat to enjoy everything at their own pace. The snorkel spot was truly great! The waterfalls and beauty of the Napali Coast was spectacular! The dolphins was an added bonus to a great trip. I would highly recommend this tour!

We had such an amazing experience with Captain Dave and Elijah on our Nā Pali Coast tour! They were both incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating throughout the entire trip. They made us feel comfortable and taken care of from start to finish. Captain Dave and Elijah were also great storytellers they shared so many interesting stories and information about the coast, the island, and its history, which made the experience even more memorable. Their personalities and positive energy really made the tour special! I highly recommend Makana Charter to anyone looking for an unforgettable Nā Pali Coast experience. Everything was perfect! The staff was very knowledgeable and caring for all passengers! My only negative was easy to find street directions to the meeting area and poor signage! A larger group called Captain Andy’s was across the street with large signage and we went there first. Parking was also an issue. I repeat, the staff was excellent and I’m happy that we chose this group!

Our captain, Makana (not the owner , he just happens to have the same name) was an excellent and fun driver. His assistants, Nikki and Charli, were great also. They were all so knowledgeable of the area and helpful. We had not snorkeled in over 15 years and we are in our 60s and they made it so easy. We recommend going on the early morning trip. The sea was perfect. I was thrilled to see the a pod of Spinner Dolphins, not once but twice, with their babies as well as a Monk Seal sleeping on the beach! We had a wonderful time. We highly recommend Makana Charters!!

Amazing day with Capt Ah Ah and Luca. Only the best captain could navigate getting us in and out of those caves. Snorkeling was exceptional; sea turtles and soooomany species of fish. Great group, lots of laughs and stories. Really loved hearing history and life perspective from people born and raised on Kauai ! Thanks for an exceptional experience!

We had a fabulous time. It was set up beautifully by Captain Rob being so passionate about what he does. Then Elijah and Liliana we so open and friendly sharing their stories from their lives making us feel like we really had a glimpse of this amazing land and sea. Kauai is welcoming and embracing. And the Makana Charters family are what made it so for us! We saw monk seals and a large group of small dolphins with babies flinging themselves out of the water! The whole trip felt leisurely with an hour for snorkeling and lunch. Everyone got to have their fill!
