Captain Mike, Jazzy, and Lionel were great guides! They were full of information about the coast and history of the island. Captain Mike was able to navigate the caves which was impressive with the size of the boat we were on. We stopped to watch a huge pod of dolphins and snorkeled with fish and sea turtles. I got sea sick and they were very attentive and took great care of me. I would highly recommend this charter company!

Makana Charters gave me and my wife one of the best experiences of our life touring the Napali Coast and Snorkeling! It's our honeymoon, and she recently tore her ACL. The crew was so kind and compassionate and helpful. They always gave her a hand and made her feel safe and do anything she was comfortable with. The crew were all Kauai locals, and they told us lots of history of the island. We saw hundreds of dolphins, and 3 sea turtles! We took the Amalia K boat into sea caves, while still having a stable and comfortable boat! I 100% recommend this tour to anyone, even if you are injured or older, the crew will make you feel safe and take care of you!

Captain Mike, and his crew, Tony and Jazzy, were amazing! We enjoyed being on a tour with generational locals who knew so many interesting, scientific, folkloric, and geological facts!! The crew made sure we had ice cold drinks on our tour while we learned so much! The tour part of the cruise was very fun...the boat was equipped with speakers so it was easy to hear! The snorkeling adventure was, likewise, very organized without feeling stuffy and overly administrative. We felt free to explore. The equipment was very clean and easy to use. Captain Mike let my teenage sons jump off the roof of the boat while we ate our delicious lunch (made to order) in the shade. It was our favorite activity of our trip and HIGHLY recommend going with this local crew over the more highly-publicized charter.

While in port from NCL-POA we booked the 2:00 leaving from Port Allen. Hired a Private driver who took us right there and back. Lots of clear communication from Makana. What a wonderful trip!!! Best money I spent in HI.

We had an amazing time taking the Makana Charters boat tour. Our boat tour on the Amelia K with Captain and crew (Elijah and Lilliana) were all great! We had beautiful weather and excellent views of Kauai's NaPali coastline. We snorkled, had a small lunch & beverages, then made our way back to the harbor. We interacted with different people on the tour and the crew made everything totally enjoyable, educational, relaxing, and fun! The boat is clean and well kept, I highly recommend! Thanks for a great experience!

The scenery was beautiful, the crew amazing, and the history fascinating. The captain put that big boat right inside those caves. I don't think you will get the same experience from any of the other local charters 10 out of 10.

What a wonderful experience! My husband and I vacationed on Kauai for his milestone birthday. We knew we wanted to take a tour, and there are plenty out there to choose from. I booked this Makana Napali catamaran tour based on reviews and the fact that it is owned and run by native Hawaiians--plus it was the best price (I booked early on in our trip planning). The catamaran vs larger vessel (Capt Andy, Blue Dolphin, etc.) offered less people in the group for a true 'ohana feel. Captain Mike, and his guides (Elijah, Charley--guessing on spelling, forgive me) were AMAZING. They interacted with every person on the boat. Seating is half covered and half open. The experience of dolphins swimming alongside the boat, breathtakingly close-up views of cliffs, caves, and gorgeous waterfalls was incredible. The native guides shared so much about the culture and history of this beautiful island. My husband getting to snorkel was the icing on his 'birthday tour' cake! Our group of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our Nā Pali Coast tour with Makana Charters the morning of June 23. Mike, Makoa, and Liliana (hope the names are correct) were welcoming and attentive throughout our time with them. The boat is beautiful and comfortable with all needed amenities. The lunch provided was perfect with plenty of beverages to keep us hydrated. Snorkeling was fun and explanations were clear. Seeing the Nā Pali Coast from the ocean was breathtaking, and the views were stunning. We enjoyed the pods of dolphins we encountered, the close ups of the sea caves, and the commentary of all we were seeing. We especially enjoyed and appreciated the cultural history that was shared. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Incredible! Our family of ten had a blast out on the boat. The views were fantastic, and the crew was just as great. Captain Mike got us into some great spots, and Jay and Tony took great care of us and made the trip fun, as well as informative. The experience exceeded my expectations and I would absolutely do it again.

The experience with Makana was truly awesome! We were aboard the Amelia K with Mike as Captain and Tony and Jazzy (sp?) as the crew. The three of them went out of their way to ensure our safety, comfort, and fun was a top priority. I thought the snorkeling was a bit underwhelming but the sight-seeing was incredible. We were on an afternoon tour and the lunch came out kind of late at 5 pm. We had dinner plans that night and were under the impression that "lunch" was served earlier in the trip. I would highly recommend this trip!

The tour of the Na Pali coastline from the Amelia K was the highlight of our family trip to Hawaii. The scenery was breathtaking and we learned so much of the history and culture of the area. The Captain handled the boat with great proficiency. The crew was helpful and attentive to our entire group, especially the children. It was a great experience for all.

Our family group of five did the afternoon tour of the Napoli coast July 24, 2026 on the Napoli Kai III. We had a great time due to the excellent crew on the boat. Captain Rob was an expert at handling the vessel in and out of the caves. The crew was very attentive to all of our needs. The Captain, Tony and Jazzi were incredible, friendly and Knowledgeable. They were so accommodating and making sure we were all comfortable. Drinks and food were provided. The boat was big and plenty of room. The scenery was spectacular. The captain shared a lot of history and some pretty interesting facts. Dolphins! Spinner dolphins, a huge pod of them completely surrounded the boat. On the return trip we tied off and did some snorkeling on a reef. Lots of fish and you can climb on the roof of the boat and Jump off. THIS IS A MUST GO TRIP. This really kicked off our honeymoon! Thanks to the whole crew. Outstanding job!!!
