First time to Kauai and this was a must see portion of the island. Chose Makana charters after getting recs from 2 separate friend groups. Stunning scenery and our guide / co-captain were amazing. Ah-Ah has 30+ years of experience and made the trip so much more special with his intimate local knowledge. Highly recommend

Capt Tim and crew were excellent. We did the afternoon cruise. Great boat maneuvering getting super close to the caves! Sandwiches were yummy and the crew was friendly. The snorkeling was disappointing as there was not much sealife to view at the spot they chose.

Our tour guides were patient, enthusiastic, and well-informed. Elijah had eagle eyes for anyone looking remotely queasy, Rhi nailed the tour tunes, and executed the cave drives perfectly. We had calm seas, dolphins, sea turtles, even an octopus! A perfect day out!

We had the best time on the Napali III with Rob, Leroy and Tony. Tony told the best stories as a native Hawaiian, Leroy played great music and shared experiences as well and Rob was a great driver taking us in to the caves, finding dolphins and giving us great instruction. There was a wind swell on our return making for the best rollercoaster ride ever making all adults and children giggle with smiles plastered across their faces. Best memory of Hawaii so far. Boat was so comfortable as well.

This tour was one of the funnest, prettiest and educational tours we have ever done. I would definitely recommend doing it 10/10!! Captain Tim, Asia and Kona were so personal, kind and fun!! We loved every minute of minute of this!! Plus I have Celiac disease and they provided a delicious gluten free sandwich!! I always appreciate when places are understanding about this condition and accommodating to it!! Thanks for an amazing experience and time!!

Jamie and Shawn (spelling, sorry!) were absolutely a blast!! Aloha for your kindness 💕. This is our first time to the islands and my family and I learned so much about all of the islands, heritage, history and had an awesome time. 2026 update: we went on the smaller Seiko 2 boat with captain Shawn and Lionel, and it was once again our favorite part of the trip. The staff was amazing with my kids and took great care of my sister who got a little seasick (while snorkeling). We got to go inside the caves, swim with a giant sea turtle, aww dolphins, and jump from the top of the boat. The kids now want to come to Kauai again next year instead of trying another island. We love this company. This tour was so much fun- my kids (8 & 10) absolutely loved it too. Our captain was so knowledgeable about the napali coast and told us so much about the history and traditions of what we were seeing, and also knew exactly where to take us for: sea caves, waterfalls, dolphins, snorkeling. I have never seen so many dolphins and they allowed the kids to see on the bow to see them up close. Amazing. We also didn't have anyone in our party get seasick, which was awesome after we all did on another boat. Would absolutely do this again.

Lots of waterfalls ! 2 whales breeched and we waited a while for them to come up. aMore caves than others 2 stops for dolphins. Good Sandwiches. On time. Friendly. Very careful re safety. Good quality snorkel equipment. Lots of stories re the Napali and native Hawaiians.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I brought my aunt and cousins on this trip and we all had an amazing time on board of the Amelia K. The crew was really knowledgeable and shared interesting information about the area and coastline and made us feel welcome and safe. The vibe was fun, we saw dolphins and waterfalls, went into sea caves, spent time snorkeling and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We were stoked and I will definitely book with Makana again when family comes. Add on note for a second experience 7 months later: I booked the same tour with this company and this time came with my parents. I was hoping it would be just as fun as the first time and it was indeed. My parents loved the adventure, the crew, everything we got to see (whales, dolphins, caves, waterfalls, and the whole beautiful Napali coast), the vibe on the boat and the skillful navigation and education by the captain and the crew. Will definitely book a third time if the opportunity arises.
