Summary

Meet your guide in central Tromso for your tour and head to a reindeer camp. Hop in a sled pulled by reindeer and ride through the forest for a while until you get to an area with around 300 reindeer. Get out and under the close supervision of your guide, stand with the reindeer and even take part in an optional feeding. Afterward, head to a lavuu (a Samil tent), and warm up with a coffee and traditional Sami soup while you listen to stories about Sami culture. Once your tour is over, return to your originals departure point.

You can travel through the Tromso countryside on your own, but it wouldn’t be anything like this reindeer sledding and Sami culture tour. Tromsø Arctic Reindeer Experience is a complete Sami Reindeer experience carried out by traditional Sami Reindeer Herders within a 30 minute drive of Tromsø. We offer a number of packages but with all you will be hosted by Reindeer herders who will show and teach you about Reindeer herding and Sami culture. We have thousands of reindeer in the mountains and a herd of around 200 Reindeer at the camp so you are guaranteed to experience the joy of being close to these wonderful creatures, the feeling of coming into a warm lavvu (Sami tent) and the sounds of the traditional joik (Sami singing).
