Why take this tour?

After being picked up from Vík, we'll embark on a journey to the untouched "no man's land," leading you to a mysterious cave. Though the road is bumpy, the surreal views will make it worthwhile. It will feel as though you're getting a sneak peek into the highlands, finding yourself surrounded by mountains blanketed in moss.

The ice cave is situated in Kötlujökull Glacier, an outlet of the larger Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Lying beneath it is the formidable Katla volcano, which lends its name both to the glacier and the ice cave.

Upon arrival at the glacier, your guide will distribute all the necessary ice cave equipment and provide a safety briefing, alongside fascinating facts about glaciers and ice caves. You will then embark on an enjoyable walk on the glacier with your experienced guide before entering the famed "dragon glass" cave.

Inside the ice cave, you'll be greeted by a truly spectacular sight. The almost unnatural color combinations of the ice have earned it the nickname “Dragon Ice Cave,” a reference to Game of Thrones. Prepare to be amazed!
