We had an amazing experience with Makana Charters. Our first scheduled tour got canceled due to high surf. They promptly offered us a refund or the chance to reschedule. We moved to two days later. The boat was small enough to create a personal atmosphere but big enough to feel comfortable and safe. Our crew was so fun and knowledgeable, happy to answer any questions. Highly recommend this company for a charter.

We had the MOST incredible day on the water with Makana Charters yesterday. Thank you Captain Mike and Crew for the hospitality. The Canyon from the waters is a MUST on your Kauai vacation. We even got to see Humpback Whales as a bonus!!!

such a fabulous day! Our captain and first meet were incredibly generous, nice fun and showed us all of the Nepali Coast. The food was great, and even the playlist was amazing! Highly recommend! we saw many spinner, dolphins and whales with their tails and preaching and baby whales on top of mama whales, and even a heat trail. The caves were amazing and the history of the native Hawaiians living in the valleys of the Nepali Coast very informative.

We did the early tour, and were so glad we did. The weather was spectacular, the views of the Napali coast- sublime. The crew was fantastic, both in skills and in personality. They stopped for a snorkeling opportunity, and we ended up seeing both spinner dolphins and a few humpback whales during the outing. We had a great time and would do it again.

Today we went on Seiko with Captain A'a and Captain Tim with Makana Charters to see the Na Pali Coast of Kauai. It was fantastic! We learned a ton about the Na Pali area. Its history, people and culture. Obviously there is a ton more to learn but A'a gave us a good start. The Seiko was a great boat to see all the sights including dolphins, sea turtles, birds, fish and even a couple whales. We also enjoyed the snorkeling. We swam with the fishes and a couple of sea turtles. All in all it was a stupendous trip. Thank you Makana Chaters.

This company has demonstrated a concerning pattern of repeatedly canceling scheduled trips. These cancellations have occurred with a distinct lack of advance notification, leaving customers unprepared. Furthermore, no viable options for rebooking have been provided, compounding the inconvenience. This unreliability significantly impacts customer trust and planning. Such repeated disruptions warrant serious consideration from potential clients.

Highlight of my trip. We saw dolphin and whales like I have never experienced before. The staff was very friendly and informative. The captain of the ship maneuvered that ship with surgical precision.

Makana earns their incredible rating on Google. We took the boat tour yesterday and it was so much fun! From the reservation, to parking, check-in, boarding, food, absolutely everything is carefully orchestrated. Our captain had to battle winter waves of 4-6 feet and he did it with a lot of care for the passengers, often crab-walking the boat to avoid big bow crashes. He took us into a cave entrance with crazy rolling waves so close that we were looking up at the mountain. On the return he spotted some whales and so he turned the boat around several times to get close enough so everyone could see them. I used to have a small craft and know how hard it is to do many of the things he did to make the trip fun and memorable. We returned right at sunset, topping the entire experience with a flourish. 5 stars, definitely recommend.

Captain Rob and his crew were amazing. This was hands down the best experience of our 10 day vacation. Our boat ride was postponed a day due to water conditions but we are so grateful. We took the 2-7pm tour and the skies were clear, water was good, and we caught the first sunset of the trip on the way back to dock. If you want to see waterfalls, caves, whales, sea turtles, have a fun boat ride, beautiful ocean view this tourist for you! Beware- you will get wet. And it is a ride. Like a carnival ride. But if you are adventurous like we are, you will love it! We were laughing and smiling the entire time. Even while getting wet! If you want a real thrill ride- sit in the front- best seats in the boat!

Great excursion seeing the Nepali Coast! The crew staff knew a lot of the history since the main staff guy is Hawaiian and knows Hawaiian words. Quite a bumpy ride since the trade winds are here in February; we were okay but a number of other travelers were sick. The lessen—. Make sure to take antiemetics! Dramamine for those who don’t know what to take! We saw spinner dolphins and whales! You’ll get wet for sure!

Makana charters is THE way to see the Na Pali coast of Kauai. The crew made everyone feel like a guest in their home, and you are, because it is the only native Hawaiian owned tour on the island. The boat was extremely comfortable and Captain Mike kept the trip smooth. The sites are incredible. Snorkeling is included with first rate gear included...If you are here in the winter months say hi to the dolphins and humpbacks.
