I am EXTREMELY late in leaving this review - but they were that good that 2 and a half years later I am still compelled to write a review. Not only was tour was so amazing that even though I was heavily sea sick the entire time I genuinely heavily enjoyed this excursion. We saw dolphins and sea turtles. And the PB&J they provided was bomb. Me being me, promptly dropped my phone in the ocean after getting off the boat 🥲. ‘A’ā, (Ah-Ah - I hope I am spelling it right) our captain searched in the water for half an hour until he found my phone. And it even still worked! The captain and crew were a blast, and I think possibly with some proper sea sickness meds, I would gladly go again.

The only thing I would change is the amount of cover over the passenger area. We hoped to have more sun and ability to get good pictures. Both are limited due to the lack of open space. If you aren’t in the first couple of rows you are out of luck for open space. Other wise the crew and boat were great.

We had a wonderful, fun, and a thrilling boat ride with Izaiah, Charlie and Makana, the captain with a great sense of humor. It was a great value for the money. The team went out of their way to entertain us and add to the experience by giving us the history of the land. The Mountain View’s were breath taking and the cave rush and waterfalls were amazing. We will definitely recommend to others.

Had such an amazing time on our boat tour! The weather in the morning started off a bit rocky, so we were unsure how much we were going to be able to see, but the crew made the most of what we had, moving our snorkeling experience to a safer area in the morning, and then weather ended up taking a turn for the better for the best views at the end! We made a stop to see an incredible pod of dolphins along the way. The crew was so kind, funny, helpful, and knowledgeable, and they made the experience so fun and memorable. Definitely the best thing I did on Kauai; would highly recommend!!

Our excursion was canceled less than an hour before check‑in, after we had already spent the entire morning waiting for the afternoon tour. We only saw the cancellation text as we were walking to the car. No one bothered to call, which means we could have easily missed the message and wasted even more of our vacation driving to a tour that wasn’t happening. When I called to explain that we couldn’t reschedule because we were flying out the next day, the agent was rude, dismissive, and clearly trying to end the call instead of answering basic questions about the refund. The weather conditions did not justify a cancellation (I have been out on chart boat and know when it is bad enough to be canceles), and based on how empty the area was on a Tuesday, it’s hard not to suspect the tour was canceled simply because they didn’t have enough guests and wanted to save on fuel. We are extremely dissatisfied with the customer service and relieved we didn’t waste more time with this company. Several days later, we still have no refund, and now I’m forced to call again and deal with the same unprofessional behavior. On top of that, the lunch options listed in the email are inaccurate. The company does not offer everything they advertise, and despite contacting them twice to submit our choices, they claimed they never received anything. Update, I called back and this agent was way nicer but has to have them go back again to get me a full refund. So be careful if you don't receive it quickly since you will need to do the follow up and all the work. Stay away from this excursion. Choose another company that actually communicates, honors its commitments, and treats customers with respect.

Great experience and loved the story behind the history of the Nepali Coast. Definitely recommend when in the islands. Especially loved how he called us Family. The team had great island vibes. ♡

My wife and I had a wonderful Na Pali sightseeing tour with Captain A'A' (sorry for any misspelling!) and First Mate Iliana (again, I i might have misspelled) on Seiko I. They both were super attentive to those who experienced some seasickness, they both provided tons of local history and pointed out important landmarks. The skipper got us most of the way into a seacave despite the seats efforts to keep us out. They found a safe place to let those who wanted to swim have fun in EXTREMELY clear water. Even let the really adventurous jump off the "roof" of the boat. Would 100% go again with that crew! Thanks for a memorable Kauai tour!

There is a reason these guys get a great Google rating. They are fantastic! We didn’t have perfect weather on our tour but we still had a great time thanks to Kona and Lionel. We took our kids and these guys were so patient and kind to them, made us all feel at home on the boat, very knowledgeable, kind, didn’t ever once feel like we were being shuffled around like a typical tour group (which isn’t always easy to accomplish as a tour guide), they encouraged and helped our younger ones snorkel which was so sweet. We also loved the boat. It was clean, comfortable, felt safe and fun to ride in. The bathroom was even great. We loved the endless sodas and juices and the lunch really hit the spot! If you are on the fence of which charter company to book with, pick these guys. You won’t be disappointed! Thanks Kona and Lionel for an awesome day!

Incredible boat tour. The Makana team knows what they are doing. Very professional and fun and laid back at the same time. On the Amelia K we got up close and personal with some of the cliff faces and caves along the Na Pali coast which added some excitement and adventure to the tour. The snorkeling was really nice and the captain and crew were so knowledgeable about the Hawaiian culture and geography. Would highly recommend Makana charters and the Amelia K.

The five hours we spent on the Amelia K touring Kauai's Na Pali Coast on the morning of April 25th left us with memories that will almost certainly last a lifetime. While the natural beauty of the coast speaks for itself, Captain Makana and crew made sure to provide us with the historical, cultural, and geological insight needed to fully appreciate what we were seeing. From start to finish, they ensured that we got the most out of our tour. When our intended snorkeling location proved unsuitable, they found a good alternative. When one of the passengers succumbed to motion sickness, they cared for her with the utmost professionalism. When the water got particularly rough at one point, they cranked up the music and assured us that the worst was almost over. On top of everything else, we saw a mother humpback whale with her calf. That alone was almost worth the price of the tour. I would highly recommend Makana Charters, and the Amelia K. in particular, to anyone wanting to get the most out of their time in Kauai. Thanks again to Captain Makana, the Amelia K. crew, and all the people at Makana Charters for making this such a wonderful experience. Mahalo!

Very friendly, accommodating and helpful staff. They will really assist you- from the captain to the father and son up to the checking-in staff. All are very nice. Would love to come back and have that experience again. Especially when they play Somewhere over the rainbow/ What a wonderful world while you’re in the Na Pali Coast. Don’t forget to take Dramamine, the Pacific Ocean waves are strong! First time to get seasick.

Highly recommend Makana Charters Amelia K Napali Coast boat tour! The Captain, Elijah and Ethan were amazing hosts for the spectacularly beautiful afternoon. We saw a Pacific Humpback whale, spinner dolphins, red-footed booby's and more. Not to mention the dramatic cliffside we followed the whole way. We got up close and personal with some caves, and learned a lot about Hawaiian culture and history which was a real treat! This is a great way to see the coast. Thanks again for the crew for a really amazing day - one we won't soon forget!

Our trip with Makana was unbelievable! Learning about the history of the island and seeing the Nāpali coast in all its beauty was amazing. Despite less than ideal contiditions we were able to see the caves up close thanks to Captain Mikes driving. We were able to experience a very unexpected whale show as well. We will be coming back to Makana charters next year! I highly recommend them they’re truly incredible and extremely knowledgeable about the culture, history, geology, and wildlife of Kauai.
