Captain A'alona and Kaimalie at Makana Charters are first class all the way around. The booking experience was fast and easy. The tour and snorkeling were fantastic, but the care that is put into your trip is unmatched. The person to person connection, story telling and attention to detail of everyone on board the immaculate “Seiko1” boat is nothing short of first class. We are a family of four with two teenage daughters, and to hear your kids say, “It was the best part of the trip.” makes you so happy as a parent. Teenagers are hard to impress.

Capt. Rob, Ethan, and Elijah were fantastic guides for our awe inspiring Na Pali Kai III tour! They even rescued a ship in distress without major interruption of our tour. They shared their knowledge and navigated superbly, even positioning us under a waterfall and entering the open ceiling sea cave. We would definitely tour with them again!

The crews were easy to talk to, not intimidating like the others we’ve met in our trips. They made sure that they made the long tour have an awesome vibe the whole time! They even offered to take group pictures without a fee 🥰 I would definitely recommend and use their tour again for next time! Mahalo🤙

The whole experience was great. Makana being very professional and the passenger peacekeepers (crew) Uncle Tony and Nikki were very caring throughout the whole tour. The littles did struggle with the motion sickness but the crew had all the tricks and they came around. Do yourself a favor and pick these guys when you need a Nepali coast tour.

Rhi & Charlie were so awesome! Love an-all woman crew, it was like hanging out with the besties. The tour itself was epic. The ride was exhilirating, like riding a rollercoaster, but also calm & peaceful & so freaking blue. The visuals were straight AI, so breathtaking it didnt seem real. But the dolphins. THE DOLPHINS. The afternoon tour isn't known for seeing dolphins, but we saw a huge pod of spinner dolphins, saw a few of them do some acrobatics, & there was even a baby dolphin i've nicknamed in my head meatball sub (cuz according to Charlie, baby dolphins are about as long as a subway footlocker lol). So, yeah, 10 out 10, would recommend.

My family and I just finished taking a NaPali coast tour in Kauai with Makana charters. The experience was absolutely amazing! Captain Ah-Ah and Nikki were fantastic, friendly and efficient. They made us feel like friends instead of tourists. There was a lot of interaction and Ah-Ah was full of information. They both made sure to talk to all of us as the trip went on. They are such nice people! The scenery was breathtaking. Captain Ah-Ah took us into sea caves and we stopped to snorkel. Makana charters is awesome to deal with and the crew helped us create a memory we won’t soon forget! Thank you all so much!

Pretty dissatisfied. We took a tour with Makana charters a few years ago and it was amazing. This time, they ended the ride early and told me it’s because someone was nauseous. That’s not an emergency and it’s expected on boat rides so I don’t understand. I was also told they’d make stops on the way back for photos and they made no stops. I was even told to wait for the ride back for photos when I did take some on the way there. The ride ended almost an hour early.

Took our family of four on this tour or kids are 12/9. It was a great experience! Worth every cent!!! We saw sooo many dolphins and the coast was stunning! Got to go in caves and went right under a waterfall!

Honestly, if you've never seen the Napali Coast, then any boat tour would be considered phenomenal. Its a breathtaking view. This was my second excursion, over 15 years apart. Some positives about this tour includes: free parking by their main stop, an emcee that was quite hilarious, a boat captain that made the boat ride at 15 knots super fun, and some history lessons along with the tour. So what was wrong? The area where we were snorkeling was quite bland. We only saw a few fish and didnt see a turtle until after we all got on the boat. After only about 30 min of snorkeling around I was bored (they give you an hour). At the beginning of the tour we were told that if you feel sick at anytime, to let them know and they'll have some remedies. Well...when I came back on the boat after snorkeling, I started feeling woozy. It was mainly because the boat was anchored and started swaying. I did take Dramamine an hour before the trip so that helped a little. I told one of the crew members how I was feeling and her suggestion was, "I would stand in the back so noone will see you get sick. Also, I wouldn't go in the bathroom because the enclosed space will make you feel worse." Not the remedies I was expecting. haha. I did not take her advice. Instead I stayed standing in the front and looked at the horizon as everyone else was enjoying their sandwiches and chips. The captain, at least, gave me a little piece of mind by telling me he'll have us back on shore in 50 minutes. So I stood there, feeling like I was on a speed boat, jumping with every big wave, wind blowing my hair and salty water on my face. Surprisingly, I felt better after that ride back. But I felt a whole lot better being on land.

We had an absolutely perfect experience with Makana Charters! The views were breathtaking, the boat ride was smooth, and the entire staff was incredibly professional and attentive throughout the trip. It was truly one of the best experiences of our vacation. However, there was one small issue regarding the seating. Since a family of six occupied two seats each, our own family members had to sit separately. It would have been much better if the staff had helped manage the seating arrangement so that families could sit together. Despite this, we still highly recommend this tour for the amazing scenery and service.
