Bran Castle is definitely one of those places worth visiting if you’re traveling around Romania. The castle itself looks impressive from the outside, especially surrounded by the mountains, and the whole area has a very unique medieval atmosphere. Even though the connection with Dracula is more historical legend and tourism than a direct reflection of Vlad the Impaler’s life, it still makes the visit much more interesting. Inside, there are plenty of small rooms, narrow stairways, old furniture and exhibitions to explore, so I recommend taking your time rather than rushing through it. If you’re visiting for just one day, Bran Castle can easily be combined with a trip to Brașov or other attractions in Transylvania. For those staying in the area for several days, I’d recommend coming early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the busiest crowds and enjoy the surroundings more comfortably. The views from around the castle are also worth seeing, so don’t leave immediately after visiting the interior. Overall, I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. It’s a very tourist-oriented attraction, but the combination of the castle, mountain scenery, medieval architecture and the Dracula legend makes it a memorable stop. I took quite a lot of photos during the visit, and I think they give a good idea of what you can expect. Definitely worth adding to a Transylvania itinerary, especially if it’s your first time in Romania.

The castle was not as big as I imagined, there are lots of steps and uphill climbs and is quite challenging so not really accessible for those with walking difficulties or in a wheelchair. The countryside around is beautiful and the town of Bran below the castle is full of tourist shops and eateries. Glad I've ticked it off my 'to visit' list
