We loved eating various types of Japanese food and going through the streets with our guide. Although the streets are safe it was so much easier and faster with a guide to follow. She gave us lots of information on the culture in addition to food and history.

We participated the the Tsukiji Breakfast Tour, where our guide, Trevor, took us around Tsukiji and the market. For a place that can be a bit overwhelming with the number of people and stalls/stores to see, having Trevor with us was super helpful and handy when we were interested in knowing more about the area. Definitely would recommend if it is your first time here in Japan and are wanting to go to the Tsukiji Market as part of your stay and want a unique experience.

We had the All star food tour in Tokyo (Ginza area) and was really nice! Our guide Sandra was well prepared and really shared her passion for Japanese food and culture. We visited very nice places including a tea tasting. Really worth it for a good introduction to Japanese food and culture! This tour was the best we had so far in Japan and Sandra was by far the best guide we had with Arigato Travel!

Sandra led us in a great tour of a Tokyo fish market. I like how we bought various items and then ate them at the end as a group. The breakfast was good too. Sandra even taught us some Japanese. I recommend this tour.

My family and I really enjoyed our food tour of Osaka Dotonbori area. Kevin was great. Fun and energetic. He took us to small local shops so we could really experience local food not the usual tourist stops. By the end of our 3 hour tour, we were stuffed. Having him take photos of us was a nice addition.

My husband and I took a tour in Uji from Sanae and LOVED it! Despite the rainy day, it was among our favorite experiences in Japan. She was so knowledgeable and engaging in the history and customs of the area. She had everything set up promptly and even gave us some parting gifts. It was a wonderful day out of the city-side Tokyo and so, so beautiful. Highly recommend!

We had an incredible experience with Akiko-san as our guide in Osaka! From the start, her knowledge and love for the city were clear, and she took us to places we’d never have found on our own. It felt like we were getting a real insider’s view of Osaka, far from the usual tourist spots. She showed us parts of the city that were full of character and history, and she had these great stories that added so much depth to each place. What made the tour even better was Akiko’s personality—she’s genuinely funny, easygoing, and just great to be around. She has a real knack for balancing information with fun, and we felt like we were exploring with a friend who knew all the secrets of the city. It was the perfect mix of history, culture, and food, and we came away with a much deeper appreciation for Osaka. If you’re looking for an experience that’s different, engaging, and totally worth it, Akiko-san is an amazing guide. Can’t recommend her enough!

We booked a night time walking food tour in Shibuya. Melissa was our host, & she was WONDERFUL! Not only did we have amazing food (I was stuffed), but she took us through some really interesting tough-to-find areas that we’re planning on revisiting to explore on our own. She made our evening stress-free: no issues with reserving space in otherwise busy establishments, we had options for food/drink but it was so easy & she took care of all the payments at each stop. We recommend this tour & will use their services again. Arigato gozaimasu!

We had a lovely 3 hour evening tour around the incredibly busy Dotonburi district of Osaka on a Saturday night with Ike. Think Times Square, New York or Piccadilly Circus in London over 3-4 acres. Absolutely humming with young people, noise, neon, bars, shops and restaurants. Ike spoke excellent English having lived in Boston, MA for 5 years. He took us down some back alleys to see some shrines before some restaurants for food and drinks. A great chance to ask questions about Japanese culture, society, religion, politics, attitudes etc. Plus of course someone who could really explain the menu choices.

We were fortunate to have just one other couple in our group so we could always be near the excellent guide Jacob and hear everything he said as he led us through the alleys in this very busy area. All the food we tried was excellent. We tried ramen, sushi, Japanese pastries and a few popular Japanese drinks. The meat eaters got to try chicken wings which my daughter said were the best she had ever eaten. The tour was expensive but we felt it was worth it. Jacob was friendly and knowledgeable and also explained some aspects of Japanese culture that we were curious about. Highly recommended.

Ray was a wonderful guide. He really did an excellent job of describing the food and food /bar culture. We enjoyed the neighborhood wander as well. We loved Ray’s visual aids for learning how to bless the meal and thank the staff when leaving. (Eat a ducky mouse and goat cheese awesome ma—❤️) Of course the food and drinks were delicious. Turns out I do like saki…rather…Nihonshu.
