We took a tour through the Pontocho area in Kyoto. This was one of my favorite experiences during our three-week trip to Japan full of many experiences. Our guide, Hiro, shared the history of the area and answered all my questions! We got to practice speaking a little Japanese and of course the food was amazing. Sometimes, while traveling, it can be challenging knowing which restaurants will have the best food and the shortest wait times. It was great having a guide to show us some great places to go back and eat again!

This was the best thing we did on our Japan vacation. Jamelah was amazing and she ready took us off the beaten path and she shared so much information about the Uji area. We really enjoyed the lunch stop along the river and the matcha making experience. We absolutely can't recommend this tour enough. It was AWESOME!

Friends and I did the Absolute Osaka food tour, and our tour guide, Sebastian, was great. It was just long enough that we got to sample a bunch of great foods, but no so long that we were worn out. He gave us a ton of information about the area and we got to try several local specialties. He also recommended locations for us to try over the next few days.

Tour: "Food Tour - Private Kyoto Nishiki" I highly recommend Arigato Travel, specifically for their food tour. My sister and I went on the Nishiki Market tour in Kyoto with Sae. The process of booking the tour was seamless, and Arigato Travel was quick to respond to our every question and request. Sae is Japanese and speaks perfect English. She guided us through the market to a number of different shops. Sae was very accommodating of our dietary restrictions (pescatarian) and made us feel very comfortable saying “no” to any items that were too “exotic.” I am so glad we did this tour instead of attempting to navigate the market on our own. Sae was able to introduce us to MANY foods we never would have thought to try. She also helped to ensure we avoided any “tourist traps” and tasted the best of the best that the market had to offer. I loved hearing her stories and anecdotes, including what she and her parents love to buy in the market. Sae also showed us other interesting shops where we were able to buy various souvenirs. I would absolutely recommend Sae and Arigato Japan Food Tour company!

Had the most incredible time on a retro food tour of Osaka with Akiko! Not only did we have some incredible bites, like okonomiyaki, udon and kushikatsu, we were able to experience local games and shops (we loved the demonstration at Tower Knives so much, we went back the following day to purchase a set)! Akiko was really informative and really showed us a part of Osaka that we would've otherwise missed. Eternally grateful for such a fun experience!

My daughter and I were in Tokyo recently for 2 days. My daughter is an avid cosplay fan and has been looking forward to doing cosplay in Tokyo. Luckily, I managed to engage Arigato Travel to provide a 2.5 hrs cosplay experience with an English guide and professional photographer at Hacostadium at Ikebukuro. My daughter was able to cosplay 3 of her favourite characters and the amazing photographer Chizuru-san took such amazing photos in the different studio settings at Hacostadium. This experience is the highlight of the whole trip. I am very grateful to Arigato Travel for their effort to pull this together in a short notice. Also shout out to Yuri-san our English guide and Chizuru-san our talented photographer!

We had an amazing food tour with Arigato Travel last night in the Ginza neighborhood. Our guide, Kaz, was fantastic, highly recommend him! We got so many cultural insights and tips, as well as eating some delicious snacks and meals! A highlight for us was the stop at a small Okinawan restaurant, where we were treated to incredible tasty food and a cool atmosphere (and an unexpected live musical performance) that we never would have found on our own. We also really enjoyed the dessert stop for seasonal daifuku mochi that was so yummy! We really appreciated Kaz's relaxed but informative style; my kids (16 and 13) enjoyed learning from him. Would definitely recommend this tour and Kaz in particular to English speakers who want to get a sense of the food scene in Tokyo.

My husband and I went on 2 Arigoto food tours while we were in Japan. We had a morning tour in Tokyo with Shigeti and an evening tour in Osaka with Ike. Both guides were locals, very kind and easy to understand in English. Food was really tasty but for me it was more the getting to hear about the Japanese culture from their perspective. Highly recommend 😃

We had a Matcha Green tea tour in Uji with Atsuko in mid-November. It was a great way to start our trip in Kyoto, and it was definitely a highlight for us. Atsuko took care of everything (arranging, explaining, managing time, paying for the food and treat), which allowed us to focus on our Uji adventure. We very much enjoyed Atsuko's friendly guidance and wealth of information. This tour deepened my appreciation for matcha, sencha and hojicha. 🙏🍵 Atsuko also made the extra effort to guide us back to Kyoto-Gion. It helped us get around much faster in the following days! Thank you! For my future trips to Japan, I would definitely reach out to Atsuko and the Arigato travel team for more food adventures!

Sebastian was fabulous, shared some great info and history behind Japan and its food + other thing too. He took us to places you wouldn’t know or think of going too for great traditional food and was great to chat to. Would recommend Arigato travel and Sebastian if you get him too
