Wine Tour East Slovenia

Summary

You will have the opportunity to taste some local wines and the unique cold pressed pumpkin oil at the local farm, known for being of the best in all of Slovenia. Slovene pumpkin oil is one of Slovenia's best kept secrets, yet to be discovered. Last stop on our tour will be in the Slovenia’s oldest town - Ptuj, known for its magnificent castle and a symphony of red-tile roofs, which are best viewed from across the Drava river. This Medieval feel town rests on Roman 'Petovia' fundaments, and is place of where the Roman Emperor Vespasian got elected by the Danuban legions, a major military force of the time. Ptuj is also home of mystic 'Kurent' masks festival. The legends say that Kurents are daemons that scare away the winter, so that the spring can return. Kurents are considered UNESCO Protected Intangible Partimony of Humanity. You shall enjoy late afternoon fine wine tasting with one of the best winemakers from this region and have the opportunity to spend some time with the locals and taste some of the most recognizable wines from this region. They are Šipon, Italian and Rhein Riesling, Chardonnay, Tramminer, Yellow Muscat, Blue Franconian, Pinot Noir and Black Velvet
