- Description
- Your tour begins with skip-the-line access to the Vatican Museums, taking the stress out of the long lines, and providing you with more time to explore one of the world’s greatest art collections. An expert guide will accompany you through the museums, telling stories that bring the statues, frescoes, and maps to life. With entry three hours before closing time, you’ll wander empty halls and take advantage of this quieter time to visit after most tourists have already departed.
-
- Boasting many galleries, it can be hard to know where to start, but your guide will take you on a carefully planned route perfected over the years. Discover the bigger picture of power and politics in Vatican City and how it interacts with art.
-
- Explore the peaceful Pinecone Courtyard, admire the famous ‘Apollo Belvedere’ and ‘Laocoön and Sons’ statues, and wander down the extraordinary Gallery of Maps to see how ancient cartographers mapped the world through history. End in the Sistine Chapel (just before closing time) after the daytime crowds have left. Gaze in awe at Michelangelo’s miraculous frescoes, including his depiction of the “Last Judgment” on the ceiling.
-
- By the end of your tour, you'll have experienced the Sistine Chapel and the highlights of Vatican Museums the way few can claim: in peace and without the crowds.

- Description
-
The size and scale of St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums can intimidate even the most hardcore art and architecture enthusiasts. That’s why we’ve created this special itinerary designed to bring you on a journey through the absolute highlights of each wonderous location.
Your morning begins in St. Peter’s Square, gazing up at the Basilica as your expert guide introduces you to the absorbing history of the Vatican and its relationship with the arts. Step inside St Peter’s Basilica where you’ll get special access to the Dome elevator which takes you up 320 steps to the Dome terraces to admire the magnificent mosaics up close. From here you can choose to climb the rest of the way to the cupola, where one of the most stunning views of Rome awaits.
While in St. Peters, you’ll explore works of art like Michelangelo’s Pieta and Bernini’s Baldachin with your guide, learning how these masterpieces came to be and their importance to the history of art and St. Peters itself.
Next, it’s time for skip-the-line access into the Vatican Museums, where you’ll explore some of the most famous galleries, like the Gallery of the Tapestries, Gallery of the Maps, and Gallery of the Candelabra. Your guide will tell you the fascinating stories behind the art, from the humble monk who created some of the first maps of Italy, to the wildly moody nature of the great Michelangelo Buonarroti.
In the Belvedere Courtyard you'll get to see some of Antiquity's finest statues, like the Apollo Belvedere and Laocoön & His Sons. As you take in these masterpieces, you'll also learn what makes them so special, and why - after thousands of years - they're still considered the pinnacle of artistic beauty.
From there you'll head to the Raphael Rooms, where Raphael (with a little help from his students) created one of the most astonishing series of frescos on earth while still in his early 30s.
The only place that can trump the Raphael Rooms is your final stop, the one and only Sistine Chapel. Your guide will give you tips about what to look out for before you're inside so that once you're there you can simply take in the immense grandeur of Michelangelo's frescoes in peace.

- Short Description
- The size and scale of St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums can intimidate even the most hardcore art and architecture enthusiasts. That’s why we’ve created this special itinerary designed to bring you on a journey through the absolute highlights of each wonderous location.
- Your morning begins in St.
- While in St. Peters, you’ll explore works of art like Michelangelo’s Pieta and Bernini’s Baldachin with your guide, learning how these masterpieces came to be and their importance to the history of art and St. Peters itself.
- Next, it’s time for skip-the-line access into the Vatican Museums, where you’ll explore some of the most famous galleries, like the Gallery of the Tapestries, Gallery of the Maps, and Gallery of the Candelabra. Your guide will tell you the fascinating stories behind the art, from the humble monk who created some of the first maps of Italy, to the wildly moody nature of the great Michelangelo Buonarroti.
- In the Belvedere Courtyard you'll get to see some of Antiquity's finest statues, like the Apollo Belvedere and Laocoön & His Sons. As you take in these masterpieces, you'll also learn what makes them so special, and why - after thousands of years - they're still considered the pinnacle of artistic beauty.
- From there you'll head to the Raphael Rooms, where Raphael (with a little help from his students) created one of the most astonishing series of frescos on earth while still in his early 30s.
-
- The only place that can trump the Raphael Rooms is your final stop, the one and only Sistine Chapel. Your guide will give you tips about what to look out for before you're inside so that once you're there you can simply take in the immense grandeur of Michelangelo's frescoes in peace.
Important note: Due to covid restrictions the corridor between St.Peter's Church & the Sistine Chapel is temporarily closed to the public.
The size and scope of the Vatican Museums makes them intimidating to even the most hard-core art enthusiasts. That's why we have created a special itinerary designed to show you the absolute highlights of the collection with no waiting in line.
Not only do you skip the entrance lines, you also enter late in the day, when some of the crowds have gone, making your visit much more peaceful and enjoyable.

Start your tour by skipping the (always long) lines to get into the museums, diving right into the galleries holding some of the most famous works of art in the world. Your expert, English-speaking guide will offer eye-opening insight and context (along with some great stories) as you explore the Raphael Rooms, the Belvedere Courtyard with ‘Apollo Belvedere’ and ‘Laocoön and Sons’, the Pinecone Courtyard, the Gallery of the Candelabra, the Gallery of the Maps, and the Gallery of the Tapestries.
Then head to the Sistine Chapel just before closing time. Before entering, your guide will explain the stories behind the creation of these iconic frescoes as well as what they mean. When you enter, you will then be able to appreciate the full majesty of the room, spotting the little details and quirks that most visitors miss.
Spend about 20 minutes admiring the chapel independently, after which time your guide will lead you through a special door out of the chapel and directly into St. Peter’s Basilica for an independent visit.
While many tour operators fit 25 or more people into their Vatican tours we’ll never put you with a group of more than 20. We’re passionate about the Vatican and want to share that passion with you in intimate groups led by the most engaging, and knowledgeable guides in the Vatican.

- Short Description
- Start your tour by skipping the (always long) lines to get into the museums, diving right into the galleries holding some of the most famous works of art in the world.
- Then head to the Sistine Chapel just before closing time. Before entering, your guide will explain the stories behind the creation of these iconic frescoes as well as what they mean. When you enter, you will then be able to appreciate the full majesty of the room, spotting the little details and quirks that most visitors miss.
- Spend about 20 minutes admiring the chapel independently, after which time your guide will lead you through a special door out of the chapel and directly into St. Peter’s Basilica for an independent visit.
- While many tour operators fit 25 or more people into their Vatican tours we’ll never put you with a group of more than 20. We’re passionate about the Vatican and want to share that passion with you in intimate groups led by the most engaging, and knowledgeable guides in the Vatican.
