This was truly one of our favorite experiences in Tokyo! I joined Shumpei’s tour (Secret Tokyo) with three of my friends – they had all been to Japan before, but for me it was my first time. What made this activity unforgettable was not just what we saw, but the incredible reach of local knowledge and cultural understanding we gained. We walked through a neighborhood we never would have discovered on our own, visited small shops with local treats, and even got recommendations for things like the best second-hand shopping areas in Tokyo. Along the way, Shumpei explained how to pray at shrines, how amulets work, and even taught us a few Japanese words. But what stood out most was the conversation. These are the things you simply cannot Google, and having someone patiently explain them and compare with our own culture made it all so enlightening. We asked about restaurant habits – like whether you’re expected to slurp your noodles loudly – and so many other little customs we had been curious about but never knew how to ask. From food to traditions to daily etiquette, Shumpei answered every question with patience and insight. For the rest of the day we kept talking about everything we had learned, and it honestly gave us a deeper connection to Japan than we could have ever achieved on our own. 💙 Absolutely recommended – if you want to understand Japanese culture on a real, human level, this is the tour you need to book!

I really enjoyed the tour in Kichijoji and Gotokuji. It was nice to just walk around and explore without worrying about checking my map all the time. The area was relaxing and fun to see, but what made the tour special was our guide. She was so cheerful and energetic, with such a positive vibe, and because of that the 3 hours never felt long or boring. It felt more like spending time with a friend while discovering new places.

It felt more like exploring the city with a friend than a typical tour. 💛 Really recommend TOMOGO if you want an easy way to discover cool spots in Tokyo and learn a bit of history at the same time! ✨

Went on a tour for Kagurazaka, Jimbocho, and Yanesen by Nippori station. All were very local areas, highly recommend if you want to experience very local places with less tourism and crowds. Beautiful places with both history, cute shops and cafes, old book stores etc.

I had fun time with Melissa and was amazing tour guide and very nice gave me good history lesson and sigh seeing. Also recommended me to do fun things while I'm in Tokyo. Next time I'm back I'll book again.

My tour leader was Melissa & she was full of history about the surrounding area. This was a breath of fresh air! This was my first time in Japan and she showed me how easy it is to get lost in this city.. So much to see!! Four hours and could have still kept going!!! I booked the Kissaten Tour, and the tour leader kept me entertained for whole 3 hours tour. I have got to explore the hidden gems of the Harajuku and Shibuya area that I have never visited before. I'd like to book this tour again.

I booked the 2 hours Exclusive Tour in Asakusa on February 13th, and I had an amazing time attending this tour! My tour leader had not only the informative knowledge, but he was also very interactive! He kept me entertained and surprised with the profound knowledge of the Japanese culture, history, and tradition throughout the trip. I also realized TOMOGO!’s tour is generally very chill and casual comparing to the other conventional tours, which made me feel so comfortable going around Asakusa with the tour leader, it felt like I was hanging out with the new friend! I’d love to book a tour again!

Had a great tour with TOMOGO!’s tour leader Matthias in Ginza. He is AMAZING. He actually lives in Ginza and was able to introduce me to some spots specially in Ginza and Hibiya that i have never been to before despite being there for many times. Very professional and friendly! Strongly recommend it.
