We had a great time on the Amelia K! The boat was clean and comfortable, and the crew and Captain made the trip amazing! We saw lots of wildlife and got close to the caves and learned so many things. When my son got sick towards the end, there were so good taking care of him for me too. Highly recommend!

This will be the boat tour of your life, hands down! It doesn’t matter what the conditions are, you will have the experience of a lifetime. I spent weeks watching other people’s videos of their boating experiences online. I researched small and large boats, catamarans. Tried to find the best option that would make our small group happy. I found Makana charters, and it was as incredible as I imagined. We chose a small boat so that we could have a more intimate experience with the captain and crew, and be able to enter the sea caves. We had the Seiko 2, a small but very comfy boat. It was too rough to see much if we had snorkled, but we swam in the water by the cliffs which is the experience of a lifetime.These cliffs are not inhabited. They are pristine. The most pristine coastline, perhaps in the entire world. I also picked Makana charters because they are a native Hawaiian company. We had Makana as our captain and Charlie as the co captain. Both of them were fun, funny, who genuinely love Hawai’i, Napali, the boating experience and they love life. They were full of information, but didn’t load you down with too much info. They told stories that made the history come to life. Made those cliffs and vallies become the homes and protection of the ancient Hawaiian inhabitants. Each waterfall had a story, each beach. But all this while we rode the waves and watched for wildlife in the sea. Dolphins and whales were our highlights! Makana had a feel for the ocean, and a natural ease and confidence that made the experience feel as if you were hanging with your good friends. As if he accepted us into his family and welcomed us to the beautiful Hawaiian world to experience it through his own heart and soul. Charlie too. She made the experience up close and personal for every guest by sharing her stories and info, and opening our eyes and ears up to the wonders around us. It was the best! I couldn’t ask for more. Thank you Makana and Charlie for sharing such a special part of your lives with all of us!!

This trip is a must do for anyone visiting Kaua'i! There is much to be seen which is inaccessible by car - wild, beautiful, amazing landscapes, waterfalls, caves. The crew is totally professional - they know exactly what they're doing to keep you safe and protected while giving you an up close experience that is unrivaled. And - they are fun, friendly, and attentive to every question or need. Highly recommended!

We had an amazing time. Captain Sean and his shipmates Ethan and the other young man (I’m not even going to try to spell his name bc I know I’ll ruin it!) were so awesome! Ethan made my daughter feel super safe, and he was really great with her even when she was being clingy. We got to see a bottlenose dolphin, some spinner dolphins, sea turtles and the tail of a whale. I am so happy that we booked with this company. All of the crew were extremely knowledgeable of Hawaiian history, and had great personalities! I highly recommend booking with these guys!!

We had an awesome day out exploring the Napali Coast with Sean, Ethan and Kyle as our guides. We saw dolphins, whales, the Napali Coast, checked out some caves, and snorkeled. They ran an awesome, personal operation and we highly recommend it!

Our family had an incredible Nā Pali Coast tour with Makana Charters. The Nā Pali Coast is absolutely breathtaking—towering cliffs, vibrant colors, and views that don’t even look real. We saw whales, bottlenose dolphins, spinner dolphins, and even sea turtles up close, which made the experience even more unforgettable. The crew was fun, knowledgeable, and kept the whole trip engaging from start to finish. Captain Sean was outstanding—skilled, friendly, and clearly passionate about what he does. Highly recommend—this was a highlight of our time in Kauai.

Exceptional tour and experience! Captain Shawn, Kyle and Ethan were fun and empathetic. We had a mix of kids and many sea sick adults. ‘Uncle’ Ethan entertained an inquisitive 5 year old girl with confidence and charm. We were shocked to hear he was so young yet so competent and adept at working with others.

The Na Pali Kai 3 boat ride was an absolute blast! The crew was fantastic, the host was knowledgeable, and the experience was both fun and thrilling. It was a great company to use to explore the Napali Coast at a reasonable price.

We did not go snorkeling, I understand the weather conditions didn't allow, but we received no discount even though they went further up the coast and tried to give us whale watching but didn't see a lot. The crew was good and the lunch was fair.
