Excellent customer service. When I had to reschedule our trip due to a medical issue, Makana Charters honored the price I'd booked under and made the reschedule effortless. The crew was fantastic. You learn a lot, you see unrealistically beautiful scenery, more dolphins than you've ever seen in your life, and great snorkeling, even for younger or weaker swimmers. Highly recommend!

Makana Charters is my family’s new favorite charter company! We have gone on charter boats in Kauai for 20+ years with a different company but decided to branch out for this trip. Now we’ll never go back! Makana, Kana and Lilly were INCREDIBLE. Makana Charters and our amazing captain A’a and his son Kai’au were THE BOMB! Seeing such unimaginable sites along the Nepali coast were breathtaking and the stories and history that they both shared unparalleled! Crazy Day! Yes we survived the tsunami, but first the check in and safety briefing. Directions to the warehouse were crystal clear, and a crew member welcomed and checked us in as we arrived. There is only one restroom, which was actually cleaner than expected. The problem in the waiting area was the fuel truck spewing fumes in the air as we waited. Glad no one lit a match! Not surprisingly the safety briefing Was well, brief. Quickly spoken, hard to follow, peppered with “jokes.” I would prefer clear instructions when my life may be involved. After a short shuttle ride from the warehouse to the marina we boarded boat and chose our seats. No information was given to help in choosing seats such as better view, more stable for sea sickness, or shaded during the ride up the coast. We started getting tsunami warnings as we headed out of the harbor. The captain was dismissive so we trekked on. Crew was very kind and affable, taking a personal interest in each group on board, and telling their own stories as well. Warnings continued and captain continued dismissing them - you can see where this is going. The crew offered drinks including juice, water, and sodas. The captain spotted spinning dolphins so we approached them cautiously and observed them swimming, jumping, and yes spinning! Tsunami warnings continued coming in on our cell phones even as we paused at majestic caves and enchanting waterfalls. Finally the captain reported that the US COAST GUARD ordered all boats to return to the harbor and we sped back at full throttle for an hour. Remarkable trip - yes. Beautiful sights - yes. Safety top concern of captain - no. He should have cancelled the tour and refunded our money. As it is, no offer of full or partial refund for our half tour. The captain and crew are young which may explain their cavalier attitude but does not excuse it. The delay in returning to port put us behind the traffic, delaying our evacuation. In the end it happened to work out, but there was no shortage of concern by the passengers on the boat. I hope the captain learns a valuable lesson from that day. A final note for the crew, the music on board only served to add to the noise of the engines and the boat hitting the waves making it more difficult to communicate on board. I suggest playing the music once the boat anchors or docks. Mahalo.

We have been on several Napili coast snorkeling tours, and both my wife and I would put this on the top of our list. Small group. Very good friendly local guides always asking if everything is ok and we can get you anything. Saw spinner dolphins, turtles, monk seals, and lots fish. They took up the entire length of the Nepali coast on our five-hour tour. Out of this world beauty for sure. Water conditions were essentially flat seas. Great made-to-order lunch with drinks. Spent an hour snorkeling in usual spot. Local family operation. Would recommend them. Harbor charges $20 for day of parking. Seems a tourist trap high but there is no other place to park.

Sean and Kai Al (sp.?) did an amazing job! This was definitely an unforgettable experience and the very best excursion in which I have ever participated. Dolphin watching, snorkeling, caves - all so fantastic! The views were breathtaking and the history and facts about the island provided by the crew was awesome. Highly, highly recommend!

This experience was amazing! The staff made their guests feel so welcome and comfortable with being on the boat. They made sure we had what we needed and gave us an incredible tour of the Napali Coast. I highly recommend this tour to anyone that wants an exciting adventurous and memorable trip! Great ride out, very smooth. Bumpy but fun on the way back. You will get what especially in the front. Saw some great stuff snorkeling too. Guide had jokes and made the trip enjoyable.

Highly recommend as it was fantastic to see the west coast of Kauai. It was nice to relax and get to see the sights. I loved that all three of the crew members told us about the traditions and meanings of each place. The captain did a fantastic job of driving and making sure all of us were safe. The service on the boat was nice as well.

We had an amazing morning with the awesome crew of the Amelia as we toured up the Na Pali coast. We started early in the morning and motored up the coast in the calm water. En route, we learned about the history of the island through personal stories from the captain. When the spinner dolphins started jumping, we were in awe. Our son (15) was able to jump up onto the front of the boat with his camera and took amazing pictures and videos (shared on the IG accounts). After, we continued up the coast and saw monk seals, waterfalls, colossal caves, jaw-dropping cliffs, before returning to snorkel and swim. The ride back was excitingly bumpy as we blasted some music and enjoyed the thrills of the waves. Would recommend 100%.

Great tour with absolutely stunning views! The crew were friendly and very knowledgeable. We were given all the info we needed ahead of time to plan accordingly, as well. We are not swimmers, so we didn’t snorkel, but that was totally fine. During that time, we were able to hang out on the boat and eat lunch so it worked out well. The crew also made sure we were all able to grab all of the photo ops and that everyone was able to see the dolphins! Highly recommend Makana Charters and this trip for all visiting Kauai!

We had such a wonderful time! It was even better than I thought it would be. All the crew had such great personalities for this line of work. They all made the experience more fun. The captain and his navigation skills were incredible!!! He blew me away with how he could turn the boat around in a cave! The snorkeling was wonderful! Such colorful fish! I would highly recommend!!
