I visited as part of an organised tour and I wouldn't necessarily reccomend a visit. The castle is not especially beautiful, it has nothing to do with Vlad III and is not the castle in Bram Stoker's book. It is hugely popular however so expect queues and high prices in the local shops & cafes.

Unfortunately, not even the furniture that should have been exhibited in the castle was there, but is at the Bran National Museum (which, at the moment, is located in a former guesthouse!). There is too much emphasis on Count Dracula and other stories than what would be truly relevant. Not to mention that the time tunnel is, in fact, a waste of time... The experience was all the more unpleasant as there were so many people (who, by the way, were standing in a seemingly endless queue), and the fact that there were so many of us in those narrow spaces only led to frustration and disappointment. I think this problem could be solved very easily if the number of people entering were limited. In addition, it would be nice to have the option to choose the language of the guided tour (something that, again, can be organized and displayed on the website), but where the focus is only on making money, there is no way that such a thing can exist. It's a great shame that we don't know how to value our history and offer tourists truly valuable experiences! Se pune prea mult accent pe Contele Dracula și alte povești decât ceea ce ar fi cu adevărat relevant. Să nu mai zic că tunelul timpului este, efectiv, o pierdere de timp... Experiența a fost cu atât mai neplăcută cu cât era foarte multă lume (care, apropo, stătea la o coadă ce părea interminabilă), iar faptul că eram așa mulți în acele spații înguste, a dus doar la frustrare și dezamăgire. Cred că această problemă s-ar putea rezolva foarte ușor dacă s-ar limita numărul de persoane care intră. În plus, ar fi frumos să ai opțiunea să alegi în ce limbă să fie turul ghidat (lucru care, din nou, se poate organiza și afișa pe site), însă unde accentul e doar pe câștigarea banilor, nu are cum să existe așa ceva. Mare păcat că nu știm să punem în valoare istoria noastră și să oferim turiștilor experiențe cu adevărat valoroase!

A bit of a tourist trap, the real Dracula never lived here (Poenari castle in the Fagaras mountains is the real location).. it's a nice visit but very overpriced at 21 USD plus extras for some areas. The immediate area around the castle has shops selling trinkets and very overpriced food. For better choices and prices walk a few minutes down the road away from the castle area.
