I was really disappointed with Bran Castle. The 90 lei entry fee is far too expensive for what you actually get. I expected an experience that would blend history and legend in an engaging way, but instead I found a confusing mix of reality and “horror attraction.” The decorations inside look like they were ordered from AliExpress: cheap plastic skeletons, fake bones, and props that have nothing to do with the true history of the castle or Vlad the Impaler. It all feels very touristy, not authentic, and more kitsch than spooky. It’s a shame, because this place has huge potential. With a fairer ticket price and a more curated historical setup, it could be great. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it.

The castle itself is pretty enough I guess, but the exhibits inside are almost entirely about the royals who lived here in the 20th century ... which makes sense, I guess, because the castle in fact has no connection whatsoever with Dracula the literary character or Vlad the Impaler the historical figure. That's all invented tourist slop, but it seems to have worked: the crowds were unbearable, even on a random weekday in October. My advice would be to skip it, or if you absolutely have to catch a glimpse, just do it from the outside without paying the rather hefty entry fee.
