Thomas has good knowledge of Kyoto, we expect the dinner inside at Gion. But it just put at the local Japanese restaurant.

Absolutely amazing experience at the Tsujiki Fish Market. Our guide Yappy was wonderful with in-depth knowledge of the market and Japan as a whole. He took us to some out of the way spots that we would have never found on our own. We had incredible sushi and other delicacies throughout the market. I highly recommend not only this tour but others we enjoyed through Arigato. Jessop was an exceptional travel agent who made the process seamless and helped put together an incredible itinerary with detailed day to day excursions, advice and suggestions. He also made himself and the company available throughout our stay in Japan, checking on us every day to make sure we were doing well and if we needed anything. I can't thank them enough and look forward to using their services again.

The Arigato Travel Food Tour in Yanaka was such a fun and unique way to explore the neighborhood. We enjoyed learning about history of Yanaka and tasting traditional food. One of our favorites was a perfectly fried beef croquette, which was so satisfying and full of flavor. We even enjoyed the croquette in a sake shop with some delicious sake! I also especially loved the whimsical cat tail pastry (a nod to Yanaka’s famous cats!). The tea ceremony at the end and drinking matcha from ancient cups was such a peaceful and memorable moment—it tied everything together beautifully.

We recently went on the Shinjuku Golden Gai food tour with Masahiro and had the BEST time!! The food stops were wonderful, the food itself was delicious and we learned so much about Japanese culture. The best part of the tour was getting to know our guide, Hiro (who has an AMAZING singing voice by the way). He was so welcoming and made us feel like we had made a true Japanese friend. It was absolutely the highlight of our trip!!

Wes was great- he took us around Asakusa on the food tour and gave us such a memorable experience. Several of us had been to japan before but he shared history and fun stories we hadn’t heard before. Big thanks to Wes for a great tour!

Hi I’m writing to you as someone who has gone on 5 good GYG tours over the last week. Last nights tour was not only distasteful, but misleading on a number of levels. -we went to a tourist trap sushi place where sushi had clearly been sitting out for too long and was warm on arrival -we went to a ramen place that smelled like piss -the first place we went to took far too long to get food and was low amount of food per person visibly -most of all the description clearly says 4 restaurant and we only went to 3. On this last point we are genuinely are concerned that our in 3 ticket was misused.. where did the $476 go? The amount food that was served is not appropriate to the cost of the tour. At a minimum we would like the 4th restraunt refunded. We are continuing our Japan Trip and look forward to a fair and equitable resolution so that we can continue to use GYG with peace of mind.

We visited 5 eating places in Tokyo with Francois and 5 in Osaka with Matt O. Both were great experiences. I appreciated that we went into restaurants I wouldn't have ventured into in my own and learned about foods I might not have tried on my own. Both guides gave us helpful to information about their cities and customs. Well done.

My 22 year old son and I were thrilled that we were the only people on the tour - the tour description said up to 10 people. Daniel our guide was excellent. He was an especially excellent good fit for my son - and maybe that is why he was selected as our guide - because Daniel made references to Squid Games and movies and such that my son was very familiar with. Daniel was also funny and personable with us and the people in our eating places. We were very pleased that we ate a lot of food! The tour description made it seem that each stop was more of a tasting that added up to one full meal.

Guide was late but very apologetic and friendly. We were late to one of the restaurants so we didn’t get the full value from the experience. Very disappointed overall.

Overpriced for what was offered. Didn’t learn about sake brewing or history since factories and museums were closed for holidays. Drank two flights of sake but could have done this by ourselves at any restaurant.

Our guide Matt O. was lovely - smart, informative, attuned, kind, & took us to a bunch of places that we would never have found on our own! Osaka was spectacular - a riot of sights, sounds, & amazing flavors! This tour overdelivered in the best ways!
