Wonderful food tour with Ray — great to do early in your visit, if possible

Our tour guide Ray was excellent — fluent English and fluent Japanese. We did the restaurant tour the day after we arrived in Tokyo and it was an excellent introduction to Japan. Ray is a fountain of information and his tour prepared us for the rest of our 2-week trip around Japan. Each restaurant / food experience was very different from the other and a unique window into Japanese culture. Highly recommended!

Delightful Food & Culture Experience!

My husband and I did the best of Shibuya food tour with Yasmine. We enjoyed trying foods from various regions of Japan, and the restaurants we visited were authentic and delicious! We tried places we would have been unlikely to venture to on our own, which is such a plus. Yasmine provides much more than a food tour, we loved learning more about Japanese culture and life in Tokyo. Highly recommend the tour and Yasmine!

Had a wonderful time going on a food tour of the Shimbashi area in Tokyo. As might be expected in such a massive city, the food explored covered various different regions of Japan in a small area! Our host was Jacob, who is from Israel and is fluent in English and Japanese! He is clearly passionate about Japan, has travelled extensively throughout it, and has a wealth of knowledge about Japan, Japanese culture, food, festivals, everything. He made the group we were in feel very welcome - there was myself and my partner, and another couple. My partner and I are at the end of our holiday in Japan, and the other couple were essentially on a layover in Tokyo heading elsewhere, but Jacob was able to work with that and make it relevant for everyone. We spent about three hours going around some of the small alleys in the area trying various Izakaya and restaurants. Jacob was very accommodating to our food and alcohol tastes and had various recommendations based on them. We tried: panko covered beef, chicken, sausage, onion and aubergine with something similar to Worcestershire sauce; a chicken restaurant highlighting fare from Hokkaido (and some sashimi for me, I love sashimi!); a ramen house that use shrimp as a base for their ramen, which is quite unusual but pairs amazingly well with the basil oil provided; a sake stop to sample an array of sake from dry to sweet - a real hidden gem really not visited by anyone other than local Japanese people and it involves standing around tables - no seats provided! I guess if you can't stand and drink you shouldn't be drinking...; and then a dessert of various fillings in fish pancakes (red bean paste, custard etc.). All the food was delicious so would definitely recommend arriving very hungry! Throughout it all Jacob shared his knowledge and was really accommodating. That was the thing that impressed me the most - we and the other couple booked through a third party so he knew nothing about us food preference wise. He was able to work with the various requests on the fly and work with the restaurants to ensure our wishes were met. Thanks Jacob! Highly recommend! Excellent food tour.

Wir hatten einen sehr unterhaltsamen Rundgang mit Diante Fogle, der uns in die unterschiedlichen Spezialitäten aus Japans Küche eingeführt hat. Am besten gefallen haben uns die Fun Facts über Osaka und der Rundgang durch kleine Gässchen. Es war super!

Ray was an amazing, informative, fun and engaging food tour guide. He not only took us to places we would never had tried but shared the history of Japanese food from different regions. Visited Japan for 3 weeks. Went with Wessley on a food tour. He showed us first around the area where we met, gave some info, very intresting. Then we went to a three differnt restaurants - appetizer, lunch,desert. He explained and answered our questions in detailes.

Unser Guide Liana war sehr freundlich und bemüht. Sie hat uns einen guten Einblick in die Kultur und Geschichte ujis gegeben. Sie war sehr aufmerksam und organisiert. Die Herstellung von Matcha im Familienbetrieb fand ich etwas zügig abgefertigt zumal wir eine MatchTour gebucht hatten.

My husband and I went on the Absolute food tour of Osaka on the 10th October. Sebastian was our tour guide for the evening. He was very friendly and welcoming and was incredibly helpful and thoughtful with taking into consideration my food dislikes (fish and seafood), and helping to point out alternatives I could try in their place. He was also incredibly knowledgeable and informative about the area and it's background. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it (hopefully you like seafood and sake more than I do!)

Fantastic local food with fantastic local guide!

We did this tour and Nagi was our guide. Her English was very good and as a local Hiroshima girl she was able to take us to some fantastic places, a craft Japanese brewery, with some sides to eat, the sake tasting shop was excellent and the mushroom mousse we had as a side was incredible! Lastly we went to the 4th floor of the okonomimura building to try the traditional okonomiyaki at a specific eatery that has its own special noodles made for it - it was amazing! Do this tour - highly recommend!!
