The perfect two day tour to hike the most beautifull places of Arrábida. For experienced hikers only.
Arrábida Dreams will have a van to transport all the necessary equipment from the start point to the mountain house.
Leaving from the castle of Palmela, we’re going down to cross the Livramento stream. As we climb Gaiteiros Mountain, the beautifull sights crossed with nature and civilization are one of a kind. After another valley we go to São Luís mountain, with a great recovering nature from the disabled quarries and a 360º sight to all the Natural Park of Arrábida. In the middle of the walk down, we'll have a light but tasty lunch, under the big pines where the chappel of São Luís stands.
After lunch we follow the way to “Comenda”, the red clay lands contrasting with green forests. We do the last climb of the day and then arrive at the campsite to enjoy a bath and a home cooked meal.
The bags we’ll be already at the campsite.
On the second day we have a great 400m climb, straight to Formosinho, the highest point of Arrábida’s mountain chain, at 501m high. The trail to go up is the same made by the monks since the XVI century. The mediterranean woods full of rosemarys and other scented bushes, grows here as nowhere else in the world, surrounded by some endemic species.
Then we’re going to see the beautiful landscapes of Risco, a valley that has been used by humans since the Bronze Age, and with some visible remainings. We will stop here to have lunch, in a shady place down the valley. You'll have the opportunity to see the highest limestone escarpment of the continental Europe, and see the Atlantic ocean in a turquoise blue, unique to this place of the coast. After that we are going straight to the castle of Sesimbra, crossing some great trails in the way. At our arrival there will be a van to pick us up.
