This morning tour begins when you meet your guide at a central meeting point. With only a small group for company, enjoy a personal discovery tour of Venice. Your first stop is the Rialto Bridge: built in the 16th century, it’s the oldest bridge over the Grand Canal, and one of Venice’s most recognizable landmarks. While you’re there, peek into the Rialto Fish Market, and learn about the city’s one-of-a-kind culinary traditions. Next, head to an area of the city many tour groups miss: the district (sestiere) of Cannaregio, home to picturesque, winding streets. Wander by Marco Polo’s House and continue onwards to the Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli, among other noteworthy sites. The tour continues with a stop at St. Mark’s Square and St. Mark’s Cathedral. As you go, learn from your guide about Venice’s past as a medieval powerhouse, and how the city has evolved today. Finally, finish the tour with a lengthy gondola ride along the Grand Canal, as well as the city’s quieter waterways.
