A nice walk through the historical center of Salerno leads us to a nice and quite pine tree forest, that is the access to the Arechi castle of Salerno.
Along the way we can admire the facades of old palaces, monasteries and churches dating back to medieval times, the garden terraces belonging to the medieval school of medicine and the unique architecture typical of this region.
Gaining altitude (because we go slowly up) you can admire stunning views of Salerno, of its bay and of the mountains above the Amalfi coast.
Once we arrive at the castle we continue to the Bastiglia tower were we find the essences of the Mediterranean environment.
Back to the historic center we go in a cool cafe and we have an Italian aperitivo. It's a great spot, friendly with tables outside, a nice atmosphere.
