Choose from the two available departure times when you book. Then, meet your guide and group of no more than eight in central Tromso to begin. Be sure to dress warmly, with a cozy base layer, warm shoes, wool socks, mittens, a hat, and a scarf.
Next, drive into the snow-laden countryside, and receive the equipment needed for your starlit snowshoe walk. Don a thermal suit and winter boots if needed, and collect your snowshoes, hiking poles, and a hiking backpack.
Once you’re ready, practice walking on your snowshoes, and then set off behind your guide under the night sky. Your guide will set a pace to suit your group, so everyone will feel comfortable and confident.
Make your way into the untouched landscapes, and crunch through the snow, breathing in the intense peace and beauty of the polar night. Immerse yourself in the nature around you, and marvel at the wide-open sky, shining with the light of the moon and stars, and, if you’re lucky, the glowing veils of the Northern Lights.
Walk along silent trails and through virgin snow, weaving through frosted woodlands and fells, and watching for tracks left by wildlife along the way.
When you’ve worked up an appetite, stop to refuel with a hearty homemade dinner by a campfire. Dig into a warming dish such as soup and crusty bread, plus snacks and drinks. Vegetarian options are also available.
After your walk, return to your vehicle and after changing out of your thermal coveralls and snowshoes, finish with a drop-off at your Tromso hotel in the early hours of morning.
