Begin your tour with hotel pickup from your accommodation in Johannesburg or Pretoria prior to a 10 a.m. tour start time. With your guide and your small group of eight people or fewer, head out to Soweto’s must-see attractions.
Drive past the world’s third largest hospital and the largest soccer stadium in Africa, which seats over 94,000 people, and then take a guided walk around the Kliptown at Freedom Square. Other key attractions on this tour include Regina Mundi church, the Nelson Mandela National Museum, and Apartheid Museum (closed Mondays; see the Hector Pieterson Museum instead).
Break for lunch at a Soweto shebeen, a type of historic speakeasy-like eatery serving up South African comfort foods that draw from the country’s African, French, Dutch, Indian, and Malay influences.
Your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel in the late afternoon.
Please note: A minimum two people per booking is required.
