Snow in the Alps

Summary Description

We take the 08:20 am train from Milan to Varenna (approx. 1-hour), a charming little village on the Lake Como, from where we start the excursion. After a short walk of the picturesque village we continue on driving to Sondrio, in Valtellina, a valley in the italian Alps that begins right at the top of Lake Como. From there we drive another 20 minutes to reach the start of the cable car (cost of € 17 per person not included) that in 10 minutes bring us in the center of the ski area. Here we enjoy the snow, the view of the slopes with skiers, and there is the option of renting boots and skis (cost not include, around € 15) to walk on the snow. We do not do anything diffiucult but, on the contrary, this activity is aimed more to just beginners or first-timers. At some point you can have lunch at a restaurant (on your own, average cost € 20 to 30 per person). Around 03:00 pm we catch the gondola for the return to our car for the driving back to the lake and for your final train ride to Milan Central station (estimated arrival time 06:30/07:00 pm)
