Sea Turtles Observation Package (2 activities + dinner)

The journey starts at Morro Peixe with a dinner at Nina house (fisherman´s wife)

During the dinner, you will learn about the sea turtles life cycle, the Program Tatô, and the work of the biologists.

After dinner we will go to the hatchery (incubation center) to meet with eco-guard and check for the opening of nests. There you can ask any question to the guards and biologists, and increase your knowledge about sea turtles

In case there are baby turtles to release, we will go to a nearby beach to release them, and then we will start the night patrol on the beach.

Our partner "Programa Tatô" is in charge of the monitoring of the whole island of São Tomé. Under its supervision, we lead this activity in the northern area of the island (all beaches in the surrounding of Morro Peixe, Fernão Dias and Micólo villages).

Recommendations :

-wear dark clothes with long sleeves

-bring own water and snacks

-bring a RED lamp (no white light)

-bring mosquito repellent

Later on, we will take you to one of the many beaches where 3 to 4 species of sea turtles come to lay eggs. Then you will start the patrol and you may have a chance to see turtle nestling.

In one night, you will :

-See wild animals in their natural environment (sea turtles).

-Learn about the protection program of sea turtles (and why it is important).

-Meet with passionate people working on the project (biologist and eco-guards).

-Make a good deed because your payment is already a donation to the cause.
