After morning pickup from your Cusco accommodations, drive to Qorao, where you’ll have time to shop for souvenirs at a traditional artisan market. Make sure to have your camera ready for some photo-worthy shots with the numerous llamas found in the area.
Leave the market and continue to a “mirador” (lookout spot) where you can take in the grandeur of the surrounding Andes Mountains and the Sacred Valley below. Proceed to the town of Pisaq, offering a chance to visit the town’s market and gain insight into the daily lives of local villagers. While in town you’ll also get to see a collection of Inca structures, including royal buildings, agricultural terraces, and Inca cemeteries.
Take a break around midday for an included buffet lunch in Urubamba before continuing to the Inca site of Ollantaytambo. This Inca location was once used to guard the valley from potential invaders. You’ll get to explore the streets of this former Inca settlement, learning about the religious, cultural, and military practices of this historic South American civilization.
Start heading back to Cusco, stopping for one final stop in the town of Chinchero. You’ll explore a colonial-era temple, see the remains of the home of Tupac Inca Yupanqui, tour the city’s main plaza, and visit Chinchero’s main plaza. Finish your excursion with drop-off at San Francisco Plaza in Cuzco.
