Private Homestyle Sri Lankan Cooking Class in Colombo

This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Join Duneeshya in her kitchen and learn to cook home style Sri Lankan dishes that you will later share together. Duneeshya has an old, Sri Lankan style kitchen that does not have modern equipment or cabinets. The kitchen can get a bit crowded so she has set up a small table on the side where you will prep ingredients before entering the kitchen for the final cooking. You will start your cooking class by helping Duneeshya prep for the meal by cutting vegetables and grating coconut the traditional way. During your two hour hands-on cooking class, you will learn to make dhal curry (lentils), fish ambulthiyal (sour fish curry), gotu kola sambol (salad), coconut sambol, beans curry and watalappam (coconut custard pudding). Afterwards, sit down together with Duneeshya at her dining table to enjoy the meal you have just cooked.

Duneeshya has a genuine passion for teaching and cooking home style Sri Lankan cuisine, the food she grew up eating.
