Pisa and Lucca
Our guide and bus driver were excellent and everything was on time. Alessandro was informative and organized
Very good experience
Everything worked out very well. We had the freedom to visit the places that interested us. Alessandro gave a good introduction to the places on the trip and Andrea's driving was very smooth.
Don't expect any historical commentary
Very busy meeting spot, lots of tours start there. Better signage recommended. Bus was fine as was the driver. Disappointed with the tour. Our guide did NOT provide any historical commentary. Based it was a "walking tour", he walked us around Lucca with no background history commentary. We spent too much time in Lucca. We rushed off to Pisa square and had 45 min to run around which included climbing the Tower. The guide didn't even escort us to the square. Short ride back to Livorno. Be advised this is truly only a "walking tour". Tour needs to better balance the time spent in Lucca (less) and Pisa (more).
Views from walls and towers in Lucca and Pisa
We enjoyed exploring both Lucca and Pisa. Unfortunately we were only a couple of minutes behind the group's departure for the walking tour, and could not find them to catch up. This was due to having to find a bathroom where it was essential to wait in queue...so by the time we returned to the gathering point the group had left. There was no kind of attendance or tracking of who should be included in the tour, so I guess they presumed we'd changed our mind. While this was disappointing, we had a lovely time hiring bikes to tour around the walls instead. Pisa was nice, and we enjoyed the opportunity to climb the tower.
Beautiful Luca and Pisa
We left our cruise ship and used the Livorno shuttle from the cruise port. We were met from the shuttle bus by the Viator team. The excursion was extremely interesting and I liked that we went to Lucca first leaving Pisa for the afternoon. We included the tower ticket which I would highly recommend. The tower was very interesting. Our tour guides brought us straight back to the cruise port which saved us using the shuttle bus.
