The excursion left without us, and without 7 other clients as well
They are intermediaries, they do not do excursions, they subcontract them to companies in the area, they neither organize them nor do them, there are more companies, do not book with them if there are more options. The company they subcontract in this case, Shore, wrote to us the day before sending the location and they told us that there was a shuttle bus that took 10 minutes from the cruise ship to the bus exit. We left 40 minutes ahead of the ship and even so they left without us, they told us it was 10 minutes but they did not tell us that there is only one bus making trips and we arrived 10 minutes late (despite the head start we had) with the waits to be able to get on it. They told us they could not do anything, that the others had arrived, that they had left, for 10 minutes, they gave us the cold shoulder so we left by train (2h from Livorno to Florence to arrive) and we returned on the excursion bus, we were barely able to be in Florence for 3h, we missed the trip there and the whole tour, it turns out that on the way back it had happened to 7 other clients of that excursion just like us, plus those who had to stay in Livorno. And who do you complain to? Viator neither organizes nor does it, it subcontracts. Do not book excursions with them when there are other companies, if you have a problem it is a mess, you always end up losing.
Transfer to/from Livorno/Florence
The bus transit to/from Florence was good, comfortable bus and operated on time. It was a bit challenging to find the right tour company and bus as there was no “Viator” signage and nothing on our reservation that told us which operator to find.
Payment for an excursion that does not correspond to reality
I booked a tour for 3 people from Livorno to Florence with a guide and also tickets and a guide at the Accademia for €237. Both the trip and the person who assisted us were very good. As for the guide in Florence, it was more of an escort who took us to the places and left us free time to see them, without any kind of explanation about what we were seeing (anyone who had only booked the trip for €32 could do that). To go to the Accademia, they gave us a paper to validate the tickets and showed us the way to get there. I have requested a partial refund, since what I had to pay is €96 for the trip. The person who organized the excursion was surprised by what I had booked, took a photo of it, and told me that it was not the first time it had happened and that I should complain to TripAdvisor, as I have done. .
Good if you just want a bus transfer and nothing else
We paid for the transfer plus a walking tour of Florence - but the only walking tour we received was a bit of a walk to get to the bus and then a pretty long walk to get to the centre of Florence from where the bus stopped. We got told as we had no ear phones we could not do a walking tour in Florence??? This trip is good if you just want to do a bus ride from the cruise ship to Florence as nothing else really provided 😟
It'll get you from A to B with a good bit of walking.
Took a while to get organized at the meeting point, then a hike to the actual bus, then a very long hike from the drop point to Florence proper.
