Walking through the streets, the tour brings history to life across three distinct historical Jewish quarters of old Porto. It was incredible to see remaining physical traces hidden in plain sight, including original doorways with mezuzah cutouts and subtle symbols left behind by the New Christians (Conversos) who practiced their faith in secret. A huge credit goes to our tour guide, Ricardo Bessa Silva. Ricardo is an exceptionally knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate guide whose enthusiasm and expertise made the entire journey unforgettable. Our Jewish heritage tour of Porto with Ricardo was one of the highlights of our visit.
