Why take this tour?

Hop aboard a private van in Rome and head to the ancient city of Pompeii, where you’ll get an unparalleled look at what life was like for those who lived in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius before it erupted in 79 AD. You’ll then take a walk through the beautiful Vesuvius vineyards before enjoying a three-course meal at one of the best wineries in the area. Finally, head further up the volcano for a view you’ll never forget and enjoy a digestif with panoramic views before heading back to Rome.

Head back in time on this fascinating day trip to Pompeii from Rome. Your transfer to the volcanic region will be filled with tales of the area and a run-down of what you can expect throughout the day.

Your first stop will be the Pompeii Archaeological Park, where your tour leader will hand you over to an expert guide, a wealth of knowledge on all things Pompeii. You’ll see the actual death casts from the volcano’s victims, stand in an old Italian stadium, and even step into an ancient brothel (if age appropriate)!

From there, you’ll be whisked away to a local vineyard right on the slopes of Vesuvius. The passionate winery team will lead you on a picturesque stroll through the vines and give you a crash course in the region’s fascinating winemaking traditions—from how they manage to grow grapes in volcanic soil to the legend explaining why different varietals grow in certain places. Having worked up an appetite throughout the morning, you’ll sit down to a homemade three-course lunch prepared with regional products and expertly paired with four of the best wines from the vineyard—chosen by sommeliers who will explain every sip.

After that, you’ll head further up the volcano to a panoramic viewpoint, where you’ll be astounded by the jaw-dropping view. This is a great place for selfies and unforgettable photos. Finally, you’ll enjoy a digestif of Neapolitan coffee or limoncello before the private van takes you back to Rome.
