Original La Jolla Sea Cave Kayak Tour for Two

Summary Description

Make your way to La Jolla, arriving a little bit before your departure time to get suited up in the onsite changing rooms. Head to the La Jolla Shores boat launch for a safety briefing and paddling instruction, and then launch a double kayak with help from your guide.

Take plenty of breaks on the way to La Jolla Caves, stopping to learn about the four distinct micro-habitats that you pass. In addition to large marine wildlife, there are a lot of fish and birds to see, as well as the summertime aggregation of leopard sharks, one of the largest gathering in the world. Don't worry, these harmless sharks have small mouths and don't bite.

See La Jolla's seven sea caves, paddling into the Emerald Cave when conditions allow. Following your time at Emerald Cave, check out the nearby giant kelp forest, the ideal spot for watching marine wildlife. Afterward, head back to the starting point.

About operator:

Update: We are OPEN, and are not part of CA’s Covid-19 order that was put in place on Dec. 3rd, 2020. We're able to offer kayak rentals and tours, surf and SUP rentals at our shop in La Jolla. Operating in an open-air environment (the ocean) where people are more than 6ft away from others makes our activities one of the safer options you can do at this time. CDC Health officials said people are significantly less likely to get the coronavirus outside, so we encourage people to get out on the water. We are working hard to keep our gear clean and safe. We are happy to announce we are offering small tours, no more then 10 people per tour. Maintain 6ft distance from one another. Please wear a mask at all times inside of our shop. We thank you for showing support to small businesses. "Enjoy nature. It's good for us, and it has very low risk of spreading the virus". - Tom Frieden, former directer of the CDC.
