2 Hour Whale Watching Kayak Tour for Two

Summary

All participants arrive 30 minutes prior to reservation time, where they will be greeted and checked in by our staff. Once geared up, we walk down to the beach and our certified guides will go over all safety procedures and provide a tutorial / refresher for best practices on how to kayak in the Ecological Reserve. The tour departs from the beach, and heads due west about two miles where we try to find migrating grey whales. Tours stop periodically to take breaks, as well as view passing marine life. No experience required. Must be age five years and older to participate. We donate a portion of every purchase made to Greenwave & Urban Surf 4 Kids through our partnership with 1% For The Planet.

Why take this tour?

The 2 Hour Whale Watch Kayaking Tour offers the chance to safely view migrating gray whales via kayak in their natural habitat. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate the coastal waters with the potential to see different types of marine life that inhabit one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in all of California. Our guides are there to make sure you have the most intimate and amazing experience. Part of that is a strict adherence to the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Ocean Etiquette Guidelines established by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In accordance with the laws and guidelines, we remain at least 100 yards away from whales and 50 yards away from dolphins. We avoid following behind or directly approaching in front of these animals. By following these guidelines, we ensure that we are safe, do not disturb these amazing creatures of the sea and have a wondrous experience.

About operator:

Update: We are OPEN, and are not part of CA’s Covid-19 order that was put in place on Dec. 3rd, 2020. We're able to offer kayak rentals and tours, surf and SUP rentals at our shop in La Jolla. Operating in an open-air environment (the ocean) where people are more than 6ft away from others makes our activities one of the safer options you can do at this time. CDC Health officials said people are significantly less likely to get the coronavirus outside, so we encourage people to get out on the water. We are working hard to keep our gear clean and safe. We are happy to announce we are offering small tours, no more then 10 people per tour. Maintain 6ft distance from one another. Please wear a mask at all times inside of our shop. We thank you for showing support to small businesses. "Enjoy nature. It's good for us, and it has very low risk of spreading the virus". - Tom Frieden, former directer of the CDC.
