Description

Join Devour for an authentic food & wine journey through Florence’s Oltrarno.

Florence comes alive at twilight—and no neighborhood captures its spirit like the Oltrarno. This is where locals gather at tiny bars, historic trattorias, and neighborhood enotecas, sharing stories over glasses of Chianti Classico and plates of simple, perfect Tuscan food.

But finding the right spots in a busy city like Florence? That takes a local.

Devour’s Florence food tour cuts through the tourist menus to show you how Tuscans really eat. Sip prosecco through a centuries-old wine window, learn the secrets of the best negroni, and graze from aperitivo to dessert with 8+ dishes and 6 drinks—including a sizzling bistecca alla Fiorentina that captures the bold heart of Tuscan cooking.

This isn’t just another food tour in Florence. Devour goes deep into the city’s culinary soul, told through its flavors, its wines, and the warmth of a shared table.

Come curious. Come hungry. Let’s devour Florence together.

Stop 1: Aperitivo at a Hidden Enoteca
Your Florence food tour kicks off in true Tuscan style: tucked into a cozy enoteca in the Oltrarno, the neighborhood locals love. With a glass of bold Chianti Classico in hand, you’ll snack on artisan pecorino toscano, cured salumi, and seasonal bruschette. As you sip and savor, your guide will share insider tips on Tuscan wine culture—how to drink it, pair it, and order like a pro.
Stop 2: Prosecco from a Florentine Wine Window  Next, we’ll visit one of Florence’s legendary wine windows—tiny portals once used to serve wine during the plague, now a beloved local tradition. We’ll keep the story alive with a chilled glass of prosecco, served straight from the window. Raise a toast and snap a photo of this slice of Florence’s history.

Stop 3: Discover the Perfect Negroni at a Neighborhood Favorite  Ready to learn the art of the best negroni? At our next stop you’ll uncover the secrets behind Florence’s most iconic cocktail: the negroni. Learn what makes the perfect balance of bitter, sweet, and strong—then sip your expertly crafted negroni alongside a slice of freshly baked schiacciata, the crispy-yet-pillowy Tuscan flatbread locals line up for.

Stop 4: Feast at a Hole-In-The-Wall Trattoria  Now it’s time for the main event. We’ll head down a tucked-away street to a family-run trattoria that’s been feeding locals for generations. Here, you’ll sit down to a proper Tuscan meal: a steaming plate of fresh pasta to start, followed by a perfectly grilled bistecca alla Fiorentina—thick, juicy, and every bit as iconic as you’ve heard. Overflowing wine and bold flavors, you’ll hear how cucina povera (the “food of the poor”) shaped Tuscany’s rich culinary traditions.

Stop 5: Discover a Family-Run Gelateria  No Florentine feast is complete without gelato—especially in the city where it was born. We’ll end at a tiny, family-run gelateria, beloved for crafting seasonal flavors with local ingredients. Try pistachio, fig, or go classic with Buontalenti—a rich, velvety custard named after the Renaissance genius credited with inventing gelato itself. This last bite is a tribute to Florence’s sweetest legacy.
By the end of the night, you won’t just know where to eat in Florence—you’ll know how to eat here: slowly, joyfully, and always in great company.
