Put on the map by big wave surfers Garrett McNamara and Andrew Cotton, Nazaré’s story began around 150m years ago when the Atlantic ocean was formed in the Jurassic period with an underwater canyon at least three miles deep, which is three times the depth of the Grand Canyon! Nazare´s traditional fishing village also has lots to offer. A must-see is the famous lighthouse, from where you get the best view of that wave. A perfect day for those surfers wishing to soak up the local culture of one of the best big wave surfing destinations in the world. Please note, the cost of the surf lesson is not included in the tour price and is 25€. If you wish to see the big waves, the season is from October until March and there will be no surf lesson at this time!
