Why take this tour?

Spend the night aboard the iconic Milford Mariner and wake up in one of the most beautiful places on earth. The cruise is relaxed, allowing plenty of time to view the fiord’s spectacular landscape and inquisitive wildlife. Keep an eye out for the chance to spot seals, dolphins and penguins. It’s the ultimate Milford Sound experience!

Start your adventure by departing from the Milford Sound wharf in the late afternoon before cruising through the Fiord accompanied by a specialist nature guide. Benefit from their expertise about the history and geology of the area as they make themselves available to answer your questions.

Next, we drop anchor in a sheltered cove, where you can head on an adventure with your guide, either in the vessel’s kayaks or tender craft (small boat). Alternatively, simply relax on deck and soak in the sights if that is more your style. If you’re feeling brave, there’s the option of jumping off the boat for a refreshing swim too.

In the evening feast on a delicious carvery buffet prepared freshly by our on-board chef. Then it’s time to relax, indulge in some star-gazing and story-sharing, or simply retire to your private cabin. The next day you’ll be able to dig into a hearty breakfast before heading back out to the Tasman Sea (weather permitting) and exploring more of the fiord.

About operator:

Our family business was founded in Fiordland in the 1950’s by tourism and conservation pioneers Les and Olive Hutchins.
Sixty years later, we offer tourism experiences from Stewart Island to Queenstown; including world renowned cruises through Milford and Doubtful Sounds, the Te Anau Glowworm Caves and heritage steamship TSS Earnslaw.
For us, the aim is still quite simple – to share the natural heritage and astounding beauty of the region with visitors – just as our founders intended.
