Great excursion while in port in Messina. Comfortable ride and plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful village.
Handy service to/from Taormina
Wasn't the 15 max passenger vehicle we were expecting. Prob about 25, double decker coach, aircon upstairs wasn't working for us, downstairs great on way back. Served a purpose to get return journey to Taormina. Lovely place to spend a few hours.
Gets the job done I guess
It’s an old hop-on hop-off bus, so there’s really no need to buy tickets ahead of time. They sell them right when you get off the boat, and it actually seemed like they were probably cheaper there. We got on the bus and then ended up sitting there for a while. Eventually, they had us get off and onto a separate bus so they could fill the first bus with people who had bought tickets last minute. It’s definitely a good option if you’re short on time and want to see Taormina, but I personally wouldn’t recommend booking it ahead of time. I’d just wait until you get off the boat and buy the tickets there!
Make sure the air conditioner works on bus!
Beautiful drive to Taormina and town was wonderful BUT the air conditioning on bus did not work so it was miserable driving back in heat of day.
More time would have been preferred
This is just transportation to Taormina. The bus left on time and the driver navigated the route safely. My only negative is that the bus is a double decker bus without sufficient AC. We arrived in port at 7am and it would have been nice to have a longer day in Taormina vs only 10am departure option and needing to be back to the bus by 2:30. We basically had time to walk through and have lunch. I think taking the train may have been a better option for us.
