Description

While others stand in line, you’ll head straight into Westminster Abbey, where more than 10 centuries of history await. Hear tales of coronations, royal weddings, monarchs, soldiers, heroes, villains, and more as you explore England’s most important Gothic building from top to bottom. After your Westminster Abbey tour you'll gain access to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries, an exclusive space housing royal treasures spanning 1,000 years of history. If you want to explore more British history, choose the Houses of Parliament option to continue your tour with a rare opportunity to explore Parliament's interior halls and chambers.

Westminster Abbey is one of the most famous buildings in the world and is considered the most important Gothic building in England. Led by a certified Blue Badge guide, this tour gets you up close and personal with some of the most fascinating events in history.

After a brief introduction in Parliament Square, you’ll head straight into Westminster Abbey. Your guide will spin stories of the significant historical events that have taken place within these walls, along with details of the decor that can be hard to decipher on your own. See the Coronation Chair, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the High Altar, where many royal weddings have taken place. You’ll also visit the tombs of some of the most important figures in history, including Charles Darwin, Edward V, and Sir Isaac Newton.

Following your exploration of the Abbey’s main floor, you’ll head upstairs to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries. Opened to the public only recently, tickets to this gallery are hard to come by. Luckily, yours are included, giving you the opportunity to marvel at its many precious artefacts—some of which are over 1000 years old!

If you select the House of Parliament option when booking, you’ll continue your tour with a stroll through the halls and chambers of Parliament just like Henry VIII and Winston Churchill. You'll be shown around by a knowledgeable tour guide who will take you to the storied Westminster Hall, the House of Lords Chamber, and the House of Commons Chamber.

History, legend, lore, and a lot of pomp and circumstance mix and mingle as you take in nearly one thousand years of history on this comprehensive guided tour of London.
