Hop aboard your own zodiac boats for a guided excursion on the Pacific Ocean in Alaska’s Inside Passage! Take turns driving (21+) or hang on and enjoy the ride. There are many tours here that allow you to just ride along, this isn’t one of them. Small groups of up to 3 zodiacs follow a guide boat along the dense coastal islands of Southeast Alaska in search of bald eagles nests, resident seals and sea lions, an immense array of inter tidal creatures and everyone’s favorite, humpback whales and sometimes Orca too!
Learn about the history of Ketchikan at Creek Street, view the Saxman Totem Poles and Native Long House from the water, venture out into Nichols Passage in search of marine mammals and ocean going adventure!

At the Ketchikan Kayak Company, we’re only interested in experiences where you can take control and do the piloting, paddling or peddling. There are many Ketchikan boat tours that allow you to just ride along, this isn’t one of them! Small groups of up to 3 zodiac boats follow a guide boat along the vibrant coastline and islands around Ketchikan, Alaska. Your guide will introduce you to a bald eagles nest, and explore the vibrant intertidal creatures and flora of the rocky coastline.
Although summer is the dryer season, you’re exploring the Tongass National Forest, it’s the second largest rainforest in the world after the Amazon, so we do get our fair share of rain. We have you covered though!
Waterproof bibs, jackets, gloves and boots are provided for the ride.
Launching from our downtown dock is super convenient and means no sitting in a van during your short port call in Ketchikan, get out exploring quick! (Other zodiac tours in Ketchikan can have you sitting in van almost an hour roundtrip).
Most tours stop at scenic Creek Street and learn about the history of Ketchikan. Most tours also stop at Totem Row and view the totem poles and native long house from the water. You'll raft up with the guide boat 3 - 6 times during the tour to watch wildlife and interact with your guide but you'll spend quite a bit of time cruising, exploring the coast, looking for whale spouts and enjoying zipping around with our new Yamaha outboards. That's why you book an ocean going zodiac tour after all!

Start Location: 425 Water Street, Ketchikan, Alaska, USA
Start Location Notes: We meet all guests at the Visitor Information/Restrooms building on the pier next to Sockeye Sam's store at cruise berth 3. 425 Water Street, Ketchikan, AK 99901. (NOTE: this is NOT the berth 2 Visitors Center). We are there with a Yellow sign "Ketchikan Zodiac Adventure" 15 minutes before departure time. We drive you just 2 minutes to our dock from there. DOWNTOWN CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS & OTHER GUESTS: After disembarking your cruise ship, the walk is approximately 2-5 minutes from the 4 downtown cruise docks, depending on which pier you are docked. WARD COVE CRUISE PASSENGERS (Norwegian Cruise Line & some other guests): This tour does not pickup at Ward Cove. You will take one of the shuttle buses provided from Ward Cove to downtown at Cruise berth 4 (normally a 15 minute ride). From there it is about a 5 minute walk to meet us at berth 3. Please call/text us at 1-907-225-1258 if you have questions about timing. *Remember to turn off airplane mode on your phone when your ship docks

Know Before You Book

- This is a self driven excursion on the water
- Be sure to contact us if you’d like to inquire about larger private tour bookings.
- We recommend that you wear clothing that would be appropriate for an outdoor hike through the forest with the weather on your given day. The best advice for gearing up for any excursion along your cruise is to bring layers. Quick dry clothing is always better than blue jeans!

Cancellations made within 7 days of tour are not eligible for a refund unless we are able to resell the seats. If you miss your tour due to ship schedule changes (e.g. if your ship is late or skips this port) or we cancel due to weather, you will immediately receive a full refund.
