De collectie bevat meer dan een miljoen stukken en heeft ongeveer 8.000 objecten, waaronder schilderijen, beeldhouwwerken en historische artefacten, tentoongesteld vanaf het jaar 1200 tot heden. Enkele van de meest opmerkelijke kunstwerken die te zien zijn, zijn Rembrandts De Nachtwacht (1642), Vermeers Het Melkmeisje (1647) en een van Van Goghs ongetitelde zelfportretten (1887). Het Rijksmuseum neemt je mee van de Middeleeuwen tot Mondriaan. Naast prachtige kunstwerken behoren ook hun collectie poppenhuizen, modelboten en wapens tot de topattracties in het museum. En de Cuypers-bibliotheek is de grootste en oudste kunsthistorische bibliotheek in Nederland. Bezoekers, studenten en kunsthistorici zijn welkom om de bibliotheek te gebruiken om dieper in de Rijksmuseum-collectie te duiken.
The collection contains more than one million pieces and has about 8,000 objects including paintings, sculptures, and historical artifacts on display, spanning from the year 1200 to the present. Some of the most notable art works on display include Rembrandt’s The Night Watch (1642), Vermeer’s The Milkmaid (1647), and one of Van Gogh’s untitled self-portraits (1887).
The Rijksmuseum takes you all the way from the Middle Ages to Mondrian. As well as featuring beautiful art work, some of the top attractions in the museum also include their collection of doll’s houses, model ships and armoury. And the Cuypers Library is the largest and oldest art historical library in the Netherlands.
