Description
  • Pick-up in Strasbourg and depart for the beautiful town of Colmar. Discover the charm of the old town, its prestigious monuments, the Pfister house, the Koïfhus, Saint Martin collegiate church and the picturesque neighborhoods of small Venice or of the tanners.
  • Then depart for the most beautiful village of Eguisheim. Surrounded by vineyards, the narrow and concentric streets highlight the architectural merits of its half-timbered houses, lovingly decorated with flowers. After a walking tour in the village your small group tour then continues on to the beautiful town of Riquewihr. Surrounded by ramparts, the village has been very fortunate to survive war and destruction. Its tiny streets, fortified walls and old houses have preserved their 16C splendor virtually intact, making for remarkable architectural harmony. Free time for personal discovery and lunch. You can also ask your guide for suggestions if you would like to participate in a wine tasting.

  • Baden Baden, a spa town, is located on the western foothills of the Black Forest, on the banks of the Oos River, in the region of Karlsruhe. • The Black Forest is a wooded mountain range bordered by the Rhine valley to the west and south. The highest peak is the Feldberg with an elevation of 1,493 meters (4,898 feet). The name Black Forest comes from the general dark color of the numerous pine trees that grow in this region. Black Forest gateau and cuckoo clocks originate from this region. The Black Forest Route (Schwartzwald Hochstrasse) is the oldest, and one of the best known, themed drives in Germany. A long time ago this road was used to transport logs. Today, it is one of the most popular routes for tourists because of the beauty of its scenery, landscape, traditional villages and the breathtaking views of the mountains.
  • Afternoon option 2 > The Badische Winestrasse
  • The Baden wine route stretches for 160 kilometers along the western edge of the Black Forest, from Baden-Baden in the north to Weil am Rhein in the south, and in an additional loop around the areas of Kaiserstuhl and Tuniberg. The vineyard covers 15,500 hectares making it the 3rd largest in Germany. In Baden, red and white wines of great repute flourish. The Blaue Spätburgunder dominates in the category of red wines, while in the category of white wines it is the Müller-Thurgau. With regard to the other varieties, each winegrower typically specialises in the regional wine: the Riesling is mostly at home in Ortenau, the Markgräflerland is the land of Gutedel and Burgunder-wines like the Ruländer (Pinot gris) and Weißburgunder (Pinot blanc) are mainly cultivated in Breisgau, Kaiserstuhl or Tuniberg. After the tour, return to Strasbourg.
