- Description
- See London from every angle on this complete, full-day tour, exploring on foot, by water & even from above. This tour covers more ground than any other.
- Your morning starts near Westminster Abbey, where you'll catch a glimpse of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, before entering the Abbey at opening time to go directly to the Coronation Chair. Learn about the history of the building—England’s most important church—and visit the final resting places of a few of the countless monarchs and luminaries buried inside, from kings and queens to great writers and scientists.
- It’s a short dash from there to Buckingham Palace, where you'll catch the Changing of the Guard if it's taking place on the day of your tour. As the crowds gather in front of the palace, your guide will take you to a great alternative viewpoint to witness this historic ceremony. You’ll also swing by the Horse Guards Parade—home to the lesser-known but arguably more impressive King's Life Guard—before visiting Trafalgar Square.
- After a break for lunch, you’ll board a Thames sightseeing cruise complete with lively and entertaining commentary from the crew. It's a fun and relaxing way to journey to your last visit of the day, one that's sure to be a highlight: the Tower of London. With pre-reserved tickets, you’ll get inside quickly to enjoy a tour of its fascinating (and sometimes gruesome) history.
- Your full-day London tour comes to an end at the Jewel House inside the Tower. While your guide can't accompany you inside to see the Crown Jewels, they'll give you a primer on the top pieces to look out for and their significance so you can check them out on your own.
- Please Note: Only the 9AM tour will include skip-the-line entry and a guided tour of Westminster Abbey. The 10AM tour does not include entry, but your guide will give an introduction to the Abbey from the exterior.

It’s a short dash from there to Buckingham Palace, where you'll catch the Changing of the Guard if it's taking place on the day of your tour. As the crowds gather in front of the Palace, your guide will take you to a great alternative viewpoint to witness this ancient ceremony. You’ll also swing by the Horse Guards Parade—home to the lesser-known but arguably more impressive King's Life Guard—before visiting Trafalgar Square.

- Description
- See London from every angle on this complete, full-day tour; exploring on foot, by water & even from above. With first entrance at Westminster Abbey you’ll enter before the crowds. This tour covers more than any other.
- Your morning starts near Westminster Abbey, seeing Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, before entering the Abbey at opening time to go directly to the Coronation Chair. Learn about the history of this, England’s most important church, and see the countless monarchs and luminaries buried inside; from kings and queens to great writers.
- It’s a short dash from there to Buckingham Palace to catch the Changing of the Guard. The area in front of the Palace is mobbed but you'll have a great alternative viewpoint. You’ll see also catch the Horse Guards Parade (little known but, even more impressive), before visiting Trafalgar Square.
- After a break for lunch you’ll board a Thames river cruise, disembarking in front of the last visit of the day, but most likely the best: The Tower of London. With pre-reserved tickets you’ll get inside quickly to enjoy a tour of its fascinating (and sometimes gruesome) history. Your guide will leave you here to visit the Crown Jewels on your own.

- Short Description
- Limited time in London doesn’t have to mean a limited view of the capital. Soak up the key sights in just one action-packed day on this guided small-group walking tour. Explore Westminster Abbey and watch the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace. Then cruise the Thames River to Tower Bridge and explore its inner workings before delving into British history at the Tower of London.
*Due to the 2022 Jubilee celebrations this tour will not include Buckingham Palace until June 20th. The Changing of the Guard ceremony is also not guaranteed to take place on any day up to June 20th.
This full-day London City Tour begins with first-entry into Westminster Abbey, which means you'll get inside before most of the crowds show up. As you wander through its jaw-dropping, gothic nave, your guide will tell you the story of its rich and tumultuous history, pointing out all the historical details packed into every surface and corner. There are ancient orders of chivalry, tombs of people like Isaac Newton and Charles Dickens, and of course, all the details from the royal weddings. Whether you are a devotee of English history or just love a great story, this is one of the most compelling buildings in the UK.
When you leave the Abbey you'll cross St. James's Park and head over to Wellington Barracks. While the crowds jostle each other to watch the Changing of the Guard in front of Buckingham Palace you'll see an even better version of the ceremony from your vantage point near the Barracks. It's here that the guards - who have been protecting the monarch for over 400 years - go through their elaborate preparations and uniform checks as a military band plays them out. Nowhere are ancient traditions on better display and you'll see them all from just a few paces away. If you go on a Saturday there is no changing of the guard, so your guide will show you Buckingham Palace and tell you all about its history as a royal residence.
N.B., The Changing of the Guard typically does not take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. If you take the tour on one of these days, you will go straight to the Changing of the Queen's Life Guard.
On the other side of St. James's Park, you'll see a much less famous but arguably more impressive guard changing; that of the Queen's Life Guard. These mounted cavalrymen appear on beautifully-bred horses and complete a highly ritualized ceremony in the aptly named Horse Guards Parade. As they go through the motions your guide will explain the illustrious history of these special military units and why they continue to perform traditions dating back hundreds of years.
From the Horse Guards Parade you'll walk over to Trafalgar Square, the historic central point of London. Standing beneath the famous lions that flank Nelson's Column, you'll learn about the navy that spread British influence around the globe, as well as the celebrity Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson whose fame, in his own time, rivaled that of any present-day celebrity. There are also a couple of surprises scattered around the square, like a tiny patch of American soil, and the smallest police box ever made.
You'll break for lunch around midday (don't forget to ask your guide for restaurant recommendations; they know the area well and can direct you to the best spots). After lunch you'll head down to the Thames to enjoy a scenic river cruise east past landmarks like the London Eye, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Shard and the Gherkin. The most iconic of them all is the Tower Bridge, which you'll walk across as your guide gives you the surprising history of this iconic sight (hint: it's not as old you might think).
The views (and pictures) from the bridge are lovely, but something even better is awaiting you on the other side where you'll use pre-reserved tickets to stroll past the crowds and begin a guided Tower of London tour. The first thing you'll notice is that it doesn't look like a tower. In fact, it was a fortress and royal stronghold for British monarchs for some 1,000 years. The history of the Tower of London is steeped in dark tales of imprisonment, torture, ghosts, jailbreaks, and royal blood feuds. These walls have seen scores of executions, murders, and strange disappearances. Heck, there was even a zoo here for many years.
Your guide will tell you the Tower's story, including everything from humorous anecdotes about the King's menagerie, to the grim story of two possible heirs to the throne who never made it out. This is British royal history at its most entertaining, a favorite for both children and history buffs alike.
To finish your Tower of London tour in style, your guide will direct you to the Crown Jewels - the largest collection of coronation regalia in the world. Although your guide is not allowed to accompany you inside, they will give you the stories and backgrounds of the must-see pieces so when you see them, their significance will be that much more apparent.
London is not an easy city to see or even get around in a single day. We have spent hundreds of hours planning this special itinerary to ensure that it gives you a comprehensive view of the history and culture of London, mixing the old and new, the traditional and the modern, to bring the city to life in a way that most visitors never get to experience.
This London city tour provides the ultimate day of sightseeing in Europe’s most vibrant capital city. With the help of your expert, local guide, London and its history are yours to savor.

- Your guide will tell you the Tower's story, including everything from humorous anecdotes about the King's menagerie, to the grim story of two possible heirs to the throne who never made it out. This is British royal history at its most entertaining, a favorite for both children and history buffs alike.
- To finish your Tower of London tour in style, your guide will direct you to the Crown Jewels - the largest collection of coronation regalia in the world. Although your guide is not allowed to accompany you inside, they will give you the stories and backgrounds of the must-see pieces so when you see them, their significance will be that much more apparent.
- London is not an easy city to see or even get around in a single day. We have spent hundreds of hours planning this special itinerary to ensure that it gives you a comprehensive view of the history and culture of London, mixing the old and new, the traditional and the modern, to bring the city to life in a way that most visitors never get to experience.
- This London city tour provides the ultimate day of sightseeing in Europe’s most vibrant capital city. With the help of your expert, local guide, London and its history are yours to savor.
Your day begins in Westminster Abbey, where you’ll take advantage of pre-reserved tickets to visit England’s most hallowed church, before most of the crowds arrive. As you stroll across the beautiful Cosmati pavements and peer up into the elaborate vaulted ceiling, your guide will introduce you to the church’s tumultuous history, which mirrors that of England. Every corner of the church is packed with historical interest and rich symbolism, including heart-wrenching war memorials, chapels maintained by ancient orders of chivalry, the tombs of national heroes, religious and royal relics, and of course, hundreds of years of royal weddings, coronations and funerals.
Leaving the spiritual heart of England, you’ll avoid the large crowds gathered in front of Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guard and head to Wellington Barracks instead. This is where most of the ceremony actually takes place, including the band’s performance and the highly-formal uniform checks. It’s even more surprising then that so few visitors come here to watch the Changing of the Guard, meaning you can get right within arm’s reach of the guards as they pass.
Now it’s time for a little surprise. On the other side of the St. James’s Park you’ll step into the Horse Guards Parade to witness a much less famous, but perhaps even more impressive ceremony: The changing of the Queen’s Life Guard, an elite cavalry regiment, mounted on exquisitely-bred, and specially-trained horses. As you watch the guards go through the ceremony, your guide will explain the significance of everything from the armor they wear to the colors on their uniforms.
Your next stop is Trafalgar Square, the geographic center of London and one of the city’s most iconic public spaces. While you marvel at the size of the bronze lions and enormous triumphal column, your guide will tell you about the naval history that gives the square its name as well as the dashing Admiral Nelson whose fame during his short life makes modern celebrities seem like total amateurs. You’ll also come across some unexpected curios, like the smallest police box in the world and a statue of George Washington that sits on a micro-plot of American soil.
After a break for lunch (your guide will recommend a range of great places to eat) you’ll reconvene for a short walk down to the Thames for a scenic river cruise that will take you past a number of London landmarks like the Shard, the Gherkin, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the London Eye and more. Disembark at the foot of Tower Bridge and cross the iconic attraction as you learn its unexpected history.
Your last stop, the Tower of London, is also the most impressive. With pre-reserved tickets at the quietest time of day, you won’t have to battle crowds to enjoy nearly 1,000 years of bloody royal feuds, improbable jailbreaks, jewel heists, menacing ravens, and even a ghost or two. Your guide, who has an expert grasp of British history, will regale you with the often hair-raising stories of this royal stronghold, jail, zoo, and sometimes execution block, including the mystery of two lost royal boys that still raises the hairs of everyone who hears it. There is no better, or more entertaining way to learn about the dynastic battles that shaped England and created the country we know as the United Kingdom. At the end, you have time to see the Crown Jewels on your own.
As a final treat, when your guide departs they will give you ample time to see the Crown Jewels (which are inside the Jewel House in the Tower). These aren’t just the largest collection of coronation regalia in the world, they are also the only ones in Europe that are still in use by a Royal family.
Every attraction on this tour is a bucket list destination. By combining them all, we’ve put together the ultimate day of sightseeing in Europe’s most vibrant capital city. Your expert, local guide, will be with you every step of the way to give you to point out the world of facts, stories and interesting details hiding around every corner.
