Herculaneum Wheelchair-Accessible Tour

This tour provided us with wheelchair accessible vehicle that allowed my wife to sit in her wheelchair while being transported to Hercukaneum. The vehicle, a new Mercedes, provided both a wheelchair tiedown as well as a seatbelt for my wife. Our driver, Domenico, spoke English and was one of the friendliest drivers I have ever had. He took us inside the gates at Herculaneum where we met our guide, Anna Maria (who said we could call her “Nina” because it was easier to say. Nina provided us with a two hour guided tour of Herculaneum areas that we were able to push the wheelchair. Warning: it will be a little bumpy in some areas but if you go slowly, there is a lot you can see from the wheelchair. And Nina was a great guide with knowledge, humor, and honest opinions. She was great! You won’t be able to go down to the beach area in your wheelchair. Nina stayed with my wife and continued to give her information while my son and I walked to the beach area houses where you can see the skeletons of those died during the explosion. A great experience with both a great driver and tour tourguide.

We spent an amazing day (Tue, Sep 9, 2025) touring Herculaneum and Ravello on the Amalfi Coast! Our driver, Achilles, was the best! He told very entertaining stories and was very knowledgeable about the area. His driving was excellent and our daughter, who uses a wheelchair, was very comfortable. Our female guide (unfortunately cannot think of her name) was very good. She gave us a great history lesson and we enjoyed the tour. Our daughter was able to navigate quite easily. Ravello was beautiful, with great views of the Amalfi Coast from Villa Rufolo. Our family enjoyed a most excellent day!
