our tour guide was so well versed in everything having to do with the site. we explored and never felt tired or bored. so much to discover in those ruins and she kept up with us answering every question.
Good Herculaneum Overview, Smooth Transportation
This was overall a smooth experience with a good little overview of Herculaneum. Pickup was pretty simple, we met at the docks, but some people were picked up directly from their hotels. It was an efficient enough process. We were having a little trouble finding the meetup spot (user error, not the fault of the tour) and our tour guide Connie called me to help me find the correct meet up spot which I appreciated. Our tour guide at the site JohnPaul covered as much as possible in the time allotted for the tour. Don’t expect to cover everything, although Herculaneum is smaller than Pompeii there is still SO much to see and learn about. We had a good experience and it was nice to be transported directly there and back.
Focus on logistics, not on the exploration
Staff was friendly and helpful getting me there and being sure I made it back. The tour of Herculaneum was extremely short and I felt like I was being rushed past areas that I would have wanted to see. The worst part is they had me waiting a full half hour after the tour at the entrance to coordinate with another group. Ideally I should have been on the inside exploring more.
We were taken off private...
We were taken off private tour and put on one collecting passengers from cruise ships. It was a disaster it took 1 hour just to find passengers then our tour at Herculaneum was rushed as passengers had to get back to ship but there was no bus. Terrible
Cruise passengers beware
Even though you confirm 3x the pickup will be at the cruise terminal, that is not where they will be. You will miss the tour! Even on the day of the tour they changed the time of pick up 2x and tried to pick us up more than a 10-15 minute drive away. After waiting 35 minutes for them to pick us up at the cruise terminal, they still had not arrived. They kept saying 5 more minutes. When asked if we would make it back to the ship in time, they answered we should!
